    r/FIFA's 2021 Content Voting Megathread

    Posted: 12 Feb 2021 08:03 AM PST

As we usually do every year, it is once again time to vote on content that should be allowed and content that should not be allowed within our sub.

A lot of times, a vote is not necessary, like when we announced that Icon SBC Pulls were not going to be allowed outside a megathread last month. But sometimes, we need your help to help us decide on topics you think don't add anything new to the sub and therefore should be removed.

Contrary to popular belief, r/FIFA moderators enforce rules voted on by the community and not just because we want to.

Great examples of this would be like when the community decided to temporarily get rid of the Daily Squad Thread and allow individual squad posts to be posted in the sub only to then revert the rule change in less than 48 hours because the sub got flooded with people flexing their squads and nothing else but squad posts. The community quickly voiced their opinion in individual posts and modmails that the Daily Squad Thread was a necessary thing and it needed to be back.

A second example of this would be back when r/FIFA allowed memes to be posted during "Meme Monday" only to go back to not allowing them within just a couple of weeks due to the amount of very low quality/low effort memes the community was posting.

With that in mind....here are our voting polls:

    • Concept Cards Posts (someone creating a card that doesn't or will never exist, example, Icon CR7 or some local hometown hero no one knows about)

    • Card Predictions (Neymar had a great game this weekend, this is how his IF might look or here's my prediction for Futue Stars Team #2)

    • Card Sniping (I sniped Prime Icon R9 for 200k!)

    • Weekend League Reviews/Finishes (Note: we currently only allow WL reviews when a post actually has text and OP is including tactics or tips on gameplay. If it's just a picture of an app showing WL record, we are removing them)

    • Past & Present Squads (Here's the 48th Manchester United Past & Present Squad post)

    • XBL/PSN Messages (the classic conversation of someone being toxic/asking for free wins/etc)

On a separate but similar topic, we need your help on a new rule we want to implement related to the quality of the videos (and pictures) that are posted in the sub. Should we allow posts of gameplay videos/goals that consist of someone recording their tv screen/monitor? (that usually look far away and honestly like shit)

Other constantly repeated posts that are already getting automatically removed can be found in the r/FIFA Wiki

We will be pinning this thread a few times for at least 1-2 weeks and will let you all know before voting ends.

Copying youtuber tactics wont help you as much as understanding how tactics and instructions affect how your team plays

    Posted: 17 Feb 2021 12:12 PM PST

This probably isn't a popular opinion, but i also doubt its an unpopular opinion.

tl;dr - While YTer tactics can help, its more important to understand what tactics/instructions are doing and the pros/cons to them so you can easily pivot if need be

I can't count how many times I notice specific things about how my opponent is playing and how I've gotten scored on because of it then paused, looked at their formation to make sure, then changed formations or changed tactics and/or instructions. Almost always, this leads to getting back into the game.

It's good to have multiple sets of tactics to switch between using the dpad, but sometimes those need to be tweaked. Some examples:

    • They have their fullbacks on join the attack to overwhelm you. You notice this, then set one of your cm's to drop between defenders and possibly increase defensive width, and switch your offensive tactic to Long Ball and your forwards' instructions to get in behind and get into the box for cross to expose the space behind their fullbacks.

    • Your opponent is playing a narrow formation and is eating you up down the middle. You notice this, and switch to a wide formation like 352 with a low defensive width and higher offensive width to combat their attack down the middle and expose them when you have the ball down the wings where they dont have protection.

If you have questions about how to combat certain situations, or how certain tactics/instructions work, I'm more than happy to give my two cents.

You know TOTW needs a revamp when I’m more excited for the red fodder for the premium upgrade.

Seriously, that's the only way to get anything out of reds. The one time over gotten a card above 82 in reds came in my first premium and it was Maddison.

    FFS Fofana Objective

    Posted: 17 Feb 2021 10:05 AM PST

POV: You’re doing the Reinier or Fofana objective

    Posted: 17 Feb 2021 12:30 PM PST

One of these was released 61 days ago and could be completed in 8 games...

    Posted: 17 Feb 2021 07:55 PM PST

Safe to say these foundation objectives have been abandoned by EA...

Seriously imagine Akanji as an 87 rated card. Bundesliga CBs are insane this year.

I'm confused by Centre Backs - what makes a good defender?

    Posted: 17 Feb 2021 12:15 PM PST

What on earth makes a good centre back? I'm confused as anything.

Maldini, left back version is around a million, and is used for most people to play him centre back. This is despite pretty rubbish physical stats.

Boateng, who has amazing everything (except acceleration) is decent, but clumsy and not half the defender the Klaiber I've switched from RB to CB is.

Is there a specific body type? A specific height? Is it just as simple as CB go brrrr?

I feel like I've tried out every centre back from Varane and back again. Big defenders like VVD and Boateng seem clumsy as anything despite being almost perfect in the 'key stats'.

    Who is good?

    What is a centre back?

Is it just a right back you play on 7 chem?

    I'm confused.

Anyway, I'd like to know the community's thoughts on what makes a decent centre back.

Anyone else think these development cards are just too much?

    Posted: 17 Feb 2021 04:31 PM PST

Have to end up playing about 40 games for players that they've released similar rated cards in the same positions for 12 games in friendlies?

I want the Fofana to strong link to Kante but it's just too much time and odd missions to achieve
