    As we all know, there is a lot of anger to be had in FIFA. Many controllers have lost their lives in the 90th minute. Some call it handicap. Some call it scripting. Sometimes it's just the general online bullshit that send you into a rage. This is our weekly support group -- where we come to vent and rant against all the things that shouldn't matter, except they do!

    Give in to your anger...

    20 tips - how to improve your mentality, gameplay, tactics and choose right players to reach higher divisions and WL ranks

    Hi guys,

    I'm not a great Fifa player but consider myself above average (this year I finally reached G1 in WL and Div1). I'm happy with my achievements so I want to help the others ;)

    Some of the tips below may be obvious to many of you but if it helps someone, especially people in lower divisions, why not publish it? I'll be happy if any of you find these tips useful. It's quite a long post ;)

    Here we go!:

    Mentality:

    1. Most important: impatient people lose. You have to be calm and patient. I know it's easy to say but when you face fucking rebounds, glitches, celebrations, people that play in a way that annoys you... I know it. But you have to understand that this game is not against you and RNG destroys all the people in the same way. You lost a match because of rebound? You will win another thanks to it
    2. If your'e mad, take a rest. Accept the lost. Remember that at the end of the day, it's just a game. You probably won't become a Youtuber or a Pro
    3. Some people will try to annoy you on purpose. It's their way of winning matches. Don't let them do it. In real, it's the sign of their weakness. They will break if you score an equalizer. Most of really good players skip celebrations and behave like grown-up men
    4. Don't quit games - especially in WL, where your ELO does not change when you leave. Always try to fight, because your opponent can get tired, you can finally read his play or...Fifa will help you
    5. Learn from the opponent - if you're being destroyed, watch it. Try to learn if you have an occassion. Every skill move that I learned is a skill move that destroyed me one day ;)

    Also, don't treat this game like a casino. It's fun but you do not have to spend coins, fodder or buy Fifa Points because a new flashing SBC came out.

    Tactics/Gameplay:

    1. Most important: it's not a football match, it's a game. Do not play like real footballers. For example, use left stick dribbling to make circles on the pitch and give your teammates time to build up your play or master ball-roll to escape tackling
    2. Yes, tackling...tackle only if you are sure you will get the ball. If you are not, just try to bounce on your opponent holding L2. It works
    3. Most players always play in the same way. You must have plan A, B and C. It means you have to have different tactics and formations for different types of opponents. I found 4-4-2, 4-1-2-1-2 (2), 3-5-2 and 5-3-2 best this year
    4. Let your fullbacks join attacks. This year it works. If you fear counter-attacks, let one of your fast CMs drop between defenders
    5. Decide if you press with your team or not. If you do, change your tactics or press manually. If you do not press, do not rush with your defenders! Wait for the opponent. Defend with your CDMs (if you do not, they will just stand and watch the play). Do everything you can to save the shape of your formation in defence
    6. If you are pressed, use "hug the lines" option with arrows (up and right if I remember correctly). Do not choose obvious passes and turns. If you are losing a match, constant pressure still helps - use it against the enemy
    7. Do not force anything in this game, especially passes or shots. Be patient. Build up your play. Stop sprinting the whole time. Restart your attack if you have to. When you have the ball, opponent does not
    8. Do not run like a headless chicken. Just don't, even if you are a pace merchant. Through balls are OP this year, but better players will destroy you if you rely just on them
    9. Learn easy skill moves to surprise the opponent. Fake shot stop + crocqueta, heel-to-heel, drag back, ball rolling. Master them in training sessions or during squad battles
    10. Do not rush with your GK all the time during corners, counter attacks etc.. Sometimes it's a good trick to rush with him and then come back to catch the chip shot but not always

    Players:

    1. Yes, going meta helps a lot. Without it you are at disadvantage - but I advise you to go part-meta. Build the team of players you like and metas. It will make you enjoy the game more
    2. Choose the right GK. I know they suck this year but some of them suck less. In my opinion - you can agree with it or not and I have no problem with that - Oblak is the best now
    3. Build your team from backline. Think about your CBs. If they suck, use fullbacks instead or buy metas or fast and agile ones. Do not trust people saying "oh, I found Hierro/Nesta good". No, they are not good and NeyBappe will always destroy them thanks to pace/agility/skill moves
    4. Always check everything about player that you want to buy, especially his body type and weak foot/skill moves. Stats can lie - Toty Lewa is great but his body type destroys him. In my opinion, every attacking player should be lean, unique or at least average body type and have 4*4* or more
    5. Everyone know meta players so finally, there is the short list of non-metas or players that you rarely see in-game that I found useful this year (including icons): Modric, RB Fabregas, RB David Silva, RB Oscar, Hazard, FS Estupinan, FS Dest, IF Maehle, Raul, Suker, Toty Jesus Navas, Guardiola 90, Gattuso 85, any version of Lautaro Martinez, Orsic (still good), HL Benzema. Messi is cheap and great at CAM

    FIFA is now a fodder simulator

    You open your WL, SB and DV rewards to replenish your club with fodder to put into upgrade packs/player picks for higher rated fodder to put into party bags/85+ packs for more higher rated fodder to put into the icon gabagool lottery to finally get a chance for a usable card but turns out you still just get fodder but in a different colour.

    You open your next daily untradeable pack to get a 90 rated player just to say 'that's good fodder'

    Kohlert (LW) : 3* 3* in March ? a LW with Medium/High ?

    Danilo (ST) : 3* 3* in March ? 77 shot power ?

    Max is not the best, but OK. But 84 rated ? Why only 84 and not 86 at least ?

    Everyone says that the best way to handle a defense is to control the CDM when the other player is in your half. They'd be right. If you don't, your CDM may as well sit down and have a picnic rather than caring at all about what is going on around him. Have someone dribbling near the top of the box between the CBs and your CDM? the CDM can't be bothered to even turn around and get closer. Have someone racing down the field on a counter? Your CDM doesn't care, he loafs around and casually walks towards the player speeding away.

    So basically the CDM role has been nerfed considerably unless you are the one controlling him. It makes defending really repetitive. It feels like anything past your CDM has become "last-ditch defending" when you are forced to control the CBs (if you are Vegas-esque lucky and manage to switch to the right CB without pulling literally everyone else out of position and allowing an easy finish).

    FIFA has become a battle of the CDMs. Who can control him the best, who can switch to him the fastest, and who is best at last ditch defending. It's no wonder the top tiers of FIFA are basically bore-all events, they are waiting for one person to make a mistake and capitalize on it.

    I opened 1,800,000 worth of 5k packs today... and profited.

    I'll start off by noting this isn't a gimmick post where 1 lucky pull put me in the green.

    This was consistent profit as a result of high fodder prices and non rare golds being more expensive that normal due to the 81+ player pick.

    I will also note that I opened these with Fifa points and not coins (this was simply disposable income and I wanted to see what they would pay out before you all hate on me)

    I opened 36,000 Fifa points in 5k packs which equated to 360 packs with a coin value of 1,800,000 coins.

    In these packs I got 3 walk outs: UCL Leiva (not really a walkout but oh well), Carvajal and WhatIF Pereyra. I also got 16 boards with 2 85 rated players, 6 84 rated players

    After I sold all of the players, and all of the consumables and club items that sold as well as quick selling the rest of the consumables that didn't sell I made:

    1,811,150

    So only 11k more than the value of the packs if bought with coins.

    However, it's clear that 5k pack method works due to this large sample size. This is 100% reliant on the non rare prices at the moment (I sold all of mine at 850)

    I logged all the info on a spreadsheet, and I think the outcome is a bit surprising.

    Lets here them!!

    I started getting into fut seriously last year, didn't really know too too much about OP cards and prices and all that. Started around Christmas time so when flashback Sanchez came out I was hyped to get him into my squad. Put in an 88 Kante and van dyke thinking using those two guys would allow me to complete the sbc for cheap....

    Safe to say I've learned from my mistakes

    Anyone else hate playing against Kante yet you can't use him?

    I dont think there is any other player I hate coming against (maybe Varane) but I just hate playing against Kante, I know when he is there he will keep bumping into my players and not aggressively annoy me and intercept ball after ball, yet recently I packed untradable What IF Kante I just can't make it work in my team, his ball intercepting and tackling is out of this world but I kinda got used to playing 2 ball playing all arounder cms in my 442 and I just can't get convinced to use Kante which sucks because it's the most expensive card I ever packed and somebody would love that card.

    I'm not usually one for conspiracies in this game with pack weight and such but we all know that it loosely takes into account players market price over ratings.

    (That's why we get Strakosha every pack and never Ferland Mendy)

    Ever since this new icon player pick came out fodder has skyrocketed with players like Oblak and other high rated cards going well north of 100k. While doing the 81+ last night I noticed I was getting far less back than what I would usually get from investing 200k or so into them.

    I know we can't expect huge W's every time we do them but it definitely felt off this time. Has anyone else had a similar feeling since the Icon PP came out in general?

    For me it's the most random and unresponsive i've ever witnessed since the last 3 titles. From fast unresponsive to slow responsive to a mix of both.

    There has been plenty of sbcs where the player isn't even good but I'd be like he might be fun I'll do it but turns out it's double/triple the price it should be. Id be wasting coins instead of trading for a better player.

    Raphina and Wendell for example would be fun enough to try for a weekend but there not anything crazy yet the prices are through the roof. I can understand certain cards like Ribery being mad expensive because he's 55 but if you want diversity make the Sbcs better value. The only people who can afford them are people who trade/ use Fifa points yet those people don't need the cards. The people who might want these cards and they would get into their team can't afford them so no body is really winning.

    Why would someone not use Mendy when trying to change to a different player would cost at least 10 times the cost of him. Why would someone take Blance from swaps when they can use Varane and take an icon pack instead and hope for the best. (I've never used Mendy but I have used Varane and he's ridiculously broken it's so stupid).

    We're nearly forced to do these party bags/icon packs considering how overpriced any good icon/ promo player is who is good. Personally as a rule I only use do an Sbc if I how 90% of the players needed untradeable .

    The game is gonna eventually be changed completely because Fifa points is basically gambling and every card they make now Otw, Headliners, Showdowns, What Ifs all involve gambling/chance .

    Icon swaps the one grind for a decent icon is now basically all packs with shit filler players.

    I personally think Ea know Fifa points could be eradicated so they're trying to milk the players for all their worth.
