/r/FIFA: The Weekly Fucking Rant Thread

    Posted: 22 Oct 2019 04:07 AM PDT

As we all know, there is a lot of anger to be had in FIFA. Many controllers have lost their lives in the 90th minute. Some call it handicap. Some call it scripting. Sometimes it's just the general online bullshit that send you into a rage. This is our weekly support group -- where we come to vent and rant against all the things that shouldn't matter, except they do!

    Give in to your anger...

Let the hate flow through you...

What's pissing you off the most in this game we love to hate?

I quick sold my OTW Lucas Hernandez and tried to get him back: An EA Support story

    Posted: 22 Oct 2019 04:17 AM PDT

Yes, you read that correctly. I quick sold (by accident) my OTW Lucas Hernandez. At that time he was worth 130k, quite some coins for a F2P average player. Here's the full story:

It was a rainy Sunday afternoon around 1PM in Belgium. I was managing my transferlist on my phone when all of a sudden the Companion app seemed to have frozen when i was quick selling some bronze players. To my surprise, I had 10k coins extra in my account. Since my transferlist was packed with bronwe players and only 1 valuable one (Hernandez), i was assuming the worst. I looked at my transferlist and couldn't find my OTW Hernandez anywhere. I looked in my club, restarted the app, checked FUT on console, but no luck: He was gone.

I tried to keep my cool and searched how I could contact EA support. Of course I had to wait in line since their chat was busy. After about half an hour someone was free to talk to me. To cut a long conversation (about 40mins) short: They couldn't locate the player/the transaction. In total disbelief I closed the chat.

Later that evening I wanted to try again since I assumed those records are probably not updated every couple of minutes. After waiting again for half an hour, a new support worker tried to help me with the problem. Fortunately he had SOME news for me. He told me that their data is not up to data and that these transactions might take some hours to show. He told me not to worry and try again in a couple of hours.

I decided to let it rest for the day and try again tomorrow (Monday). At 10AM i was again waiting in line to talk to an EA support employee. Same sh***, different day. "transactions might take some time to show, I advice you to wait at least 24hours to be sure". Since it hadn't been 24hours I decided to give it a go, I didn't have anything to lose.

Couple of hours later I had a 1.30hour conversation with an EA employee who said the magical words "we have located your player". He told me my case would be forwarded to the right department and he deducted 10.248 coins from my account (the quick sell value from OTW hernandez). I would get a confirmation email when that was done.

Fastforward 24hours --> Lucas Hernandez has been safely returned to my club. Everyone who I know to play FIFA told me that I lost him forever and that EA would never give him back to me, but here we are. My faith in EA is restored and I hope someone with the same problem reads this and has faith as well that in the end, everything is possible.

TL;DR: I quick sold my OTW Lucas Hernandez due to the companion app freezing. After 48h of contacting EA support 4 times and getting 3 negative responses, he has now been returned to my club.

EDIT; You can't just discard players and get them back a moth later when you regret it. According to the support employee there were technical difficulties with my account (I don't have more details)

    Scream Hulk Review

    Posted: 21 Oct 2019 08:06 PM PDT

What's up lads, I'm back with another review.

This time it's on Scream Hulk because I'm a shit cunt and I need boosted cards to help me win. All 10 games as usual from D3.

    • Games: 10

    • Goals: 14

    • Assists: 18

    • Chemstyle: Sniper

    • Chem: 4 because I threw him in my bundes/laliga hybrid because I couldn't be fucked making a squad to suit him but guess what it didn't even fucken matter because this bloke is broken

    Pace

    • Card says 88, feels like 99. Bloke is absolutely rapid, it doesn't help that he launches every bloke off of him mid sprint but nobody can catch him & even if they do, he throws them like you do to your cum sock at 2am.

    Shot

    • 87 shooting and it's a minimum, anything with his left foot is a goal. I don't give a shit where you shoot from, it goes in. IF it doesn't go in, it drops nicely to your striker to score - basically how he got all his assists for me. Broken.

    Pass

    • Card reckons 86, I reckon it's irrelevant. Why? Because once he gets the ball all you have to do is smack that joystick and watch him chase his own heavy touch. Passes aren't necessary for this guy. Bada bing bada through on goal.

    Dribbling

    • card says 82 and id say that's fair, he's a very one dimensional player, he doesn't feel silky enough to me to be able to run rings like Scream Navas is but he's strong enough to find his way through. Having 4* skills helps but they don't feel as controlled as I'd have hoped.

    Defence

    • As you'd think, not the best. He sucks at tackling, your only hope of defence is if you're running shoulder to shoulder with an attacker and push him off the ball.

    Physical

    • Easily my favourite trait, he cannot be thrown off the ball it is borderline ridiculous. I've had 2 guys in the 10 games get frustrated with the fact they can't go shoulder to shoulder that they just take me out and get sent off. Great asset.

    Other

    • his right foot is a bit of a let down, yes it's 3* which is manageable but it's still not as good as i would have hoped for. He cannot jump or head the ball to save his life, he's planted to the floor. His volleys are also hit and miss, they either fly into the top corner or they hit row z and kill a bird.

All in all, I managed to do him for 75k which to me is a bargain. Ill definitely have to build a sweaty Brazilian team, put my feet up and think about Fifa 12.

    • TLDR if you want a player who you tell shoot and he says goal. This is your bloke. He's not slimy like Messi and he's not going to get you out of tight situations but he will score you goals, he will create the rebounds for tap ins and he will launch cunts into orbit. If that sounds like your type of superhero, get yourself a hulk.

    Any questions, let me know!

And this is why I can’t play rivals anymore. This is why players like me who are in Div 6 struggle to play now. A div 6 playing a div 6 is just as hard as a div 1 playing a div 1. You have to understand that you’re smurfing and it ruins the fun for us.

The future of FIFA and FUT is bleak

    Posted: 22 Oct 2019 03:08 AM PDT

    Unfortunately.

I think this FIFA has some of the best gameplay that EA has been able to produce so far. This however only applies to playing offline. Once the online delay kicks in, it can get totally unbearable.

But the biggest problem is the lack of balance. The best viable tactics are anti football. And unfortunately those are successful, especially with the terrible player switching, delay, and assisted everything.

AI defending has been nerfed, so what do people do? park the bus and counter, so they can get those auto blocks.

Imagine if you had to actually be skillful at defending, or had to actually perfectly time, power, and aim your wild long balls to the attackers? at least at that point, parking the bus comes with a risk, of never having a good chance whatsoever.

There is too much assistance going on to help the weaker players compete, which I'm ok with, but at a balance. This is my main point. Every viable real life tactic should be an option, just has to be balanced. A team in PTB all game won't send every single ball forward perfectly to their strikers. A team pressing hard forward all game is exposed and will lose stamina faster. Wingers track back? Harder for them to bomb forward. Sissoko and Ndomble standing not moving infront of the defense while on attack? harder to break through.

Its just far to easy to win with a shitty anti fun anti football tactic. Those are the weapons of the underdog, which again, I can live with.

Oh and get rid of the fucking "deciding moments" or whatever that 45/90 mins extra stupidity that is tacked on to the AI at those moments.

If not, I feel that ultimately, the future of FUT will be content creators, and all those who are addicted to winning and forgot that we are all here to try and have a fun game, and the pool will just get more and more toxic.

REWARDS ARE VIRTUAL! AND THEY EXPIRE FFS, Can we just try to be civil and have a good time playing this game we love?

Yes Fifa, that’s inside the box...

    Posted: 22 Oct 2019 12:20 AM PDT

My best goal to date, would seriously recommend Scream Muller!!

    Posted: 21 Oct 2019 03:37 PM PDT

If you relegate yourself just to complete objectives, you’re the reason the playerbase is considered ‘hardcore’

    Posted: 21 Oct 2019 08:42 AM PDT

Lemme explain. This year my uni course is ramped up and I am having to balance a lot in my life, so fifa has obviously taken a massive back seat. I've only played around 30/40 games since release. Last year I played around 1,700 games and this year I don't think I'll make it to 500.

I'm playing this game casually, so when I jump into division 6 to have a bit of fun with the game, I don't want to come up against some guy who's relegated himself just to smash people like me. So I turn off my console, I'm not gonna ruin my mood.

I will surely not be the only person to do this, so over the course of the year, you guys are discouraging and ruining the fun for us casuals.

By February the player base will be mostly hard/medium core players. Us casuals don't have fun anymore

Someone DC'd in 4 matches and kept his 15-0 record

    Posted: 21 Oct 2019 12:16 PM PDT

I don't get how my fast players can be outpaced by slower ones and his fast players are constantly brushing past my slower players

    Posted: 22 Oct 2019 06:10 AM PDT

I don't get how this game works and I've seen numerous players complain about pace. Some games it works then others there defenders will just constantly keep up. My Mane gets outpaced by guys with 70 pace yet Sterling will ease past Hernandez when in a duel. It just makes no sense.

The removal of icon SBCs is a huge loss for the community

    Posted: 21 Oct 2019 04:02 PM PDT

There's been so much excitement over the new icon swaps program that not many people have talked about what we lost in the exchange. Let's look at the evolution of icon SBCs the last three years:

FUT 18 - Icons are slowly rolled out over the course of the game cycle. Eventually you can build the best version of any icon in the game.

FUT 19 - Icons are initially released in sets (I can't remember if they were repeatable or not), which limited choices more than in 18. When this change proves unpopular, EA revert to a FUT 18 like system of individual icon SBCs, but unexpectedly introduce Prime Icon Moments and withhold the most desirable meta icons. PIM Eusebio, R10, R9, Gullit, Pele, and Vieira are never made available via SBC, and the excuses for why are incredibly lame. Bottom line: You can no longer build the best versions of the best players.

FUT 20 - There will be no individual icon SBCs. EA has total control over which icons you can get, when you can get them, and exactly how you have to unlock them.

So we've gradually moved from being able to build the best versions of people like Gullit and R9 to being completely dependent on a drip feed timeline that dictates what's available, when, and how. Let's think about the consequences of this:

    1. Icons become more accessible - This was the main argument EA provided when they announced icon swaps, obviously to control the narrative and divert attention from the total removal of individual icon SBCs. But I'd contend that this wasn't their main goal, as they easily could've kept icon SBCs in the game and simply removed the icon requirement, which would've allowed undesirable icons to drift down to affordable prices like in FUT 14. 1-2 weeks of DR and WL would allow anyone to try a tradeable bottom tier icon. The new icon system was less motivated by a desire to let everyone access icons and more about my next point.

    2. Desirable icons are less accessible than ever - In the previous two years, you could accumulate assets, melt untradeables into icon SBCs, and gradually work your way up to an elite meta icon. With zero individual icon SBCs, that's no longer possible. Moreover, now that nobody can build elite meta icons through SBCs, demand for tradeable elite icons will be much higher, which will in turn drive their prices up. So while everybody can get a free Guardiola or Nesta if they please, the path to the actual great cards like Gullit and Vieira has become harder than ever.

    3. Packs are less valuable - With no icon SBCs, demand for 84+ SBC fodder and discard IFs is lower than at any point in the previous two FIFAs, meaning those cards are worth relatively little when you pack them. So not only are you going to need more coins to access a Gullit/R10/R9 type of card, but it's going to take longer to accumulate those coins even if you buy FP, because the return of individual packs has declined as a result of the overall changes.

Add it all up, and it seems pretty clear that the new system was deliberately designed to block access to elite cards, expand the paywall, and encourage more FP purchases.

I've always said I'd stop playing FUT when it no longer became possible to obtain the best content on a F2P account and we may finally be approaching that territory this year. Barring absurd luck or patience, there's essentially no route to obtaining multiple elite icons for people who aren't spending heavily.
