    When is a non rare a rare? I completed the trade ups for 1 rare and 2 non rares, and pulled IF Noble as a rare card and non rare. Makes sense.

    Flashback David Luiz (90) Review

    Fifa experiences vary from player to player, so try to take every review with a grain of salt :) Stat ratings are always relative for that particular position. (75 pace might get a 10/10 for a goalkeeper, but a 6/10 for a target man) Thanks to Division Rivals untradeables I could do this SBC for around 150k, nearly half of its expected price.

    David Luiz Moreira Marinho- 6 ft 2 (189cm), 3 star WF, 3 star skills, Med/Med, Chem Style: Shadow (boosted stats factored into review)

    Pace: 94 - Key Stats: 93 Acceleration, 93 Sprint Speed

    There are few attackers at this point in the game that David Luiz won't overtake and overpower in a footrace, and they are all in blue and gold. Later in the review I will explain why a pace boost is recommended on Luiz. 10/10

    In this clip we David Luiz comes from the far side of the pitch to stop a counter attack:

    Dribbling: 81 - Key Stats: Composure 88, Reactions 88, Agility 76

    David Luiz feels steely and tough, yet graceful and composed. With relatively high agility and reactions for a center back, he has does not feel stiff at all, whether it be in his change of direction and pace, or whilst on the ball. Just remember, keep it simple in possession. He is a great ball-playing center back but an average defense midfielder. 8/10

    Clip: After a terribly misplaced backpass by Roberto Carlos, David Luiz reacts first to reach the ball and recycle possession before the striker sniffed out danger.

    Passing: 83 - Key Stats: Long Passing 91, Short Passing 86, Free Kick 85

    This was one of the selling points for me, as a possession player. I find myself recycling possession back to David Luiz, just so I can ping a driven (r1+ square on ps4), cross field lobbed pass. His passing feels extremely responsive, the range is vast and the weight of his passing is top notch. For an added bonus, for players who take nice free kicks, try a knuckleball with David Luiz. 10/10

    Clip: After winning the ball, David Luiz sprays a lobbed pass across field to stretch the play

    Shooting: 76 - Key Stats: Shot Power 94, Longshots 85

    If you find yourself playing against deep sitting opposition, or for some reason have the ball with David Luiz around 25-30m (more as to why you'd ever find yourself in that position later)... for the love of god, have a pop at goal. The ball goes like a rocket off his right boot, just dont try to finesse it. As for finishing in and around the box, with the near post power shot being OP this year, David Luiz will always be threatening due to the meta.. however, i would not call him a consistent goal threat inside the box. 10/10

    Defending: 97 - Key Stats: 99 Slide Tackle, 96 Standing Tackle, 96 Def Awareness, 93 Heading, 99 Interceptions

    Say you have a friend, who always falls asleep on the couch when you visit him, while the pizza is in the oven. 8 times out of 10, he wakes up just in time to save your dinner. But a few times, you both looked foolish ad went hungry. So what do you do? Your friend is gonna sleep regardless, that oaf. Better set a timer right?

    Look at David Luiz's stats. On paper, he has the ingredients to be damn near biblical. He is a titan IG, brushing aside attackers and defusing danger left and right like Jeremy Renner in Hurt Locker. But at least once a game you'll see David Luiz so hopelessly out of position that it makes you think "Wow, who said Fifa wasnt realistic?" Set that timer! If you arent going to play David Luiz next to a defensive rock (preferably with good stats and workrates), you might as well not get him. Also, boost his pace so that he can recover when he gets inevitably dragged out of position! That being said, David Luiz still has the stats to be able to swiftly and elegantly put out his own fires, although I sometimes thought "where the f*** is he going now?" I am conflicted about this rating, but I guess my issues lie elsewhere. 9/10

    Clip: Luiz doesnt even flinch on the fake shot, dispossesses Dalglish like he was but a babe

    Physical: 86 - Aggression 96, Strength 88, Jumping 87

    I can count on one hand the amount of 50/50 battles David Luiz lost me. Take this with a grain of salt because in this game, Ben Yedder can lose the ball, recover and dispossess the defender in one fluid motion. I am not talking about these instances. Frankly put, David Luiz will bully a majority of strikers at this point in the game cycle. An absolute monster in the air, his prescence will be felt in both 16 yard boxes. A true titan. 10/10

    Final Thoughts: 57/60:

    Flashback David Luiz is that expensive pitt bull you bought to guard your house, an absolute unit who does its job with consequence, precision and strength. However, in the back of your mind you feel that something will go catastrophically wrong. Maybe you come home one day and Fritz has eaten your child's toys and half of the Latvian housekeeper. I cannot explain why David Luiz makes darting runs from his own box towards midfield, or why when defending a counter attack he runs away from the ball like he was allergic, but damn.. he is class. If you can look past the rush of blood to the head moments, he is damn near the perfect center back. Yes, he is pricy, but he is so FUN to use.

    Do not do David Luiz if it will break your bank, or if you have a solid and trusted centerback pairing. If you have Diego Carlos, RTTF MIlitao, Joe Gomez, that french guy, or any other decent CBs.. maybe you dont need a David Luiz. But if you do finish this sbc, by Jove will he entertain you. I, for one, cant wait to see what madness my David Luiz does in the Weekend League. See yall tomorrow for a Bernardo review

    TL;DR; EA truly encompassed the madness and brilliance of David Luiz's career. Often ridiculous, definitely a madman but absolutely class on his day.

    It's more fun, quicker for rewards too! I got my Michy and have been enjoying hell out of him over my Vardy.

    I'm hoping the shorter season format is the way to go from now on.

    And I'm damn proud of myself. I've wasted away so much money over the years because of this damn game. Don't get me wrong, I've packed insane players over the years, from TOTY Messi, to Hero Ronaldo, to Gullit, to TOTY pogba. But it means fuck all once the new game comes out 9 months later and for once, I didn't succumb to that money trap. Not really sure what I meant by posting this, but I'm damn proud of myself for resisting the urge to piss away another paycheck at a shot of a shiny blue card that'll bring me enjoyment for a few months. This shit is really like a drug. Baby steps lads!

    Possibly unpopular op: I wish ICON Swaps was a pure grind to wins/goals or back to SBCs rather than this current format.

    There's literally ZERO fun to be had using players that can't even kick the ball correctly (by EA's thinking) and it's not like it's for one game, the entirety of SWAPS is made up of this bad game design and it's compounded by the toxicity of the community.

    I can't be alone where I feel as if just getting x amount of goals/wins or back to the SBC format would be much more enjoyable than being forced to use shit-house players for extended periods of time. FIFA 20 plays badly enough without having to use players you actively try and avoid because a) they'll fall over nothing) b) their passing is worse than coin-flip odds.

    If it was at least a grind to wins/goals you could use good, and fun players on the way rather than players that are part time footballers and full time carpenters forging their career in the depths of some league you'd never watch.

    Non rare players = League specific Upgrade pack

    Rare players = Premium PL Upgrade

    81-82players = 83+ Rated guaranteed pack

    84-85 = First two Base Icon segments

    86 or over = Last two Base Icon segments

    Rinse and repeat, do complete other Player SBC's in the progress if there is someone avaible you like!

    Update: Two icons crafted, Henry and Ballack. Small win.

    Edit: Also have every PL IF, Pogba, Son, Aguero, Lloris and Auba in my club as an untradable.

    Why the Premier League Upgrade SBC is such good value

    Most of us were hyped when they brought back the league upgrade SBC's especially given that 7/11 TOTY cards are from the same league. But how good is the actual value on these packs given that the chances are so low?

    The reality is the value is crazy good if you take the time to grind and recycle. If you do 100 of the all-rare upgrade packs, you will get back 300 rare players and 900 non-rare players. These can be recycled back into the same SBC (or other ones such as the Icon SBC for duplicate high-rated players). This means that even after the 300 rares and 900 non-rares you get from the initial packs (and assuming a 10% discard rate) you can get another 260 Rare players and 645 Non-Rare players (48 packs and 132 packs respectively).

    This means that if you embrace the grind, and as someone that has been doing this for hours today I can tell you it is a really annoying grind, you can get nearly double the advertised return on the packs.
