    EA have spiraled the market into a freefall and you should be more upset about it.

    You should be worried. Yet people are complaining about bad special cards and limited selections but there is a much much more pressing issue facing FIFA today. If you've only played the later years of FIFA you might not know this but for the past few years EA has actually been good at handling the market. This year however they've just given up and they've done so in one of the ugliest manners I can think off. Last year we got Icon sbcs, tradable TOTW sbcs etc and a major reason why they existed was to prop up the market. Getting an 84 rated player felt good because that was 4-6k consistently spiking as high as 8k in february. (Perrin as an example) Their value didn't drop until August. 85's kept their value high at 15k untill June (Kompany as an example).

    In FIFA 20 it's February and the bottom is going out of the market. 84's are nearing discard price and 85's are 7k. EA refuses to release another ICON sbc (that helped keeping the prices high) or deseriable player SBCs like the TOTW sbc. Instead pretty much every SBC released is horrendously overpriced and undesirable. Hålands POTM sbc costs more than twice that of his MOTM card and has 23 ingame stats more than the MOTM card. Not to mention the addition of tons of untradable garbage in SBCs. It's as if the team no longer wants SBC and flag them all to be unsuable overexpensive garbage so that the players won't engage with them.

    The only conclusion we can draw is that EA are intentionally burning down the market for everything other than their endless slew of special cards that nobody wants. (The Winter refresh SBC barely moved any card because there were no really desirable cards to get). Gone are the days when EA realised the value of letting people feel good when you pack highrated players even if they are not meta and we're back to the shitshow that was players like Toni kroos at 87 rated going for 7k. Opening packs feels bad enough as it is with people opening millions and millions worth of packs without hitting anything of note and we're quickly heading for a future where you can't be bothered to sell your 88 David Silva on the market because he barely breaks the discard value. Meaning desirable cards vill be even more expensive because nothing you pack will have any value.

    Fixing the market was the one thing FIFA 19 got right, making packs feel good SOMETIMES even when you got an unusable Pique you could get something back. They kept it up for the first half of FIFA 20 but now they are hellbent on murdering the market making your packs worth less than they have been since the bad old days. FIFA 21 is going to be a fucking mess if this continues and you should all be very very worried because the pay to win aspect of the game is going to be ramped up even more going forward.

    Interestingly enough people are under the impression that cards are much more affordable this year than last. Something that is simply not true. Same date last year.

    Neymar was 431k this year he is 700k

    Messi is 843k his card was 629k last year

    The one exception is Ronaldo who was significantly better last year and a much more desirable card.

    adding the lesser value of the cards you're packing cards were significantly less expensive last year.
