EA have suspended Kurt’s account permanently

If EA had the rights, this is how I’d imagine the cards to look like for EURO 2020 - feedback always welcomed :)

Best Knuckleball I’ve ever scored. Had to record this way because he quit immediately after

Tekkz is a hero for the fifa community, and we should all have nothing but respect and gratitude towards him.

    Posted: 24 Feb 2020 07:21 AM PST

Tekkz, the best fifa player for years now winning multiple titles, came out live on stream for the tournament he's currently playing in saying that the game is bad and no one enjoys it. This man was willing to risk his career just to try and help fix the game we all love to hate recently.

Fifa 20 is the worst fifa every made, we all know this, yet EA couldn't care less, because money. We all need to have this kind of mentality to speak out about how pathetic it really is. The best way to fix it would be boycotting fifa points, but with all the big streamers blasting packs and with how addicting it is, it'll never happen. We need to band together as a community to make a once great game good again, or soon we'll all move to PES or RL.

Just my thoughts, please feel free to comment telling me I'm wrong or right.

EDIT: In response to the responses, I made a straw poll as a decider to the worst fifa ever, feel free to vote.

IMO If EA choose to change the team for a live card when the player has moved clubs, at least update the dynamic image!

Realised you could hypothetically re-create almost all of the terrifying AC Milan team that started against Liverpool in the 2005 CL Final using icons. Missing are Dida, Jaap Stam, and Cafu (obviously not the real Cafu pictured, just some rubbish silver bloke with the same name).

There’s more of these upgrade SBCs than ever, but less places than ever to put our high rated untradables

    Posted: 24 Feb 2020 10:07 AM PST

These upgrade SBCs would be way more interesting if we actually had something substantial to build towards with the high rated untradables that we get. Otherwise you're really only happy if you're the 1% that gets a promo card.

They're useless in my opinion unless EA make changes

Can EA just release the mid icon SBC please?

    Posted: 24 Feb 2020 10:31 AM PST

Yes they can be a total coin sink.

Yes you will most likely pack an Inzaghi or a Litmanen.

    Yes it'll be overpriced.

But for the few seconds of opening that icon pack, there's genuine excitement and that few seconds of excitement is more excitement you get from this game now than in any other mode, be it gameplay or otherwise.

Barring the Kimmich SBC which looks good value, the majority of SBCs recently have been painful.

Just please give us it and let us be happy with our Christian Vieri's and Bobby Moore's.

    Thank you.

How I got an Elite 2 finish with a <850k team - tactics and general advice

    Posted: 24 Feb 2020 05:33 AM PST

I often see some posts/threads on this subreddit just equating high WL finishes with absolutely stacked teams, and there is the general perception that unless you're a top pro it's impossible to even dream with Elite finishes if you don't have some form of star players.

Well, I never agreed with that. Which is not to say P2W isn't real, of course it is, and I feel it myself while playing with these guys. Not that I ever had a ridiculously stacked team anyway, but for instance the avenues having Neymar up top opens for me are ridiculous. I tried to replicate it with Dembele but it's not the same, because although he has the double 5 star he lacks some of that individual edge, and for that reason he's better on a supporting role (on the wing or even cam/striker but with that star beside him).

However, it's still possible. And this post comes from someone who hadn't even finished Elite on this FIFA until January, so if you think I'm just someone who was always cracked on the game and thus can't relate to your struggles, you're wrong. You just need to have the ability to self-reflect, focus on the pointers I'll give you at the end of the post and practice. Guarantee you'll get better.

But before that, let's get to the more 'basic' stuff...

    Proof of E2

    Team

    Team in game

Custom Tactics - Balanced on the defensive end and Possession on the offensive one.

Instructions: RB/LB - Stay back while attacking; RCM and LCM - Cover Center; Strikers - Drift Wide and Get in Behind. Nothing on the CBs (duh :D) and LM/RM.

It's funny actually, I never liked 442 on this FIFA, and never liked possession as a custom tactic as well. But this set up somehow works for me. I trigger a lot of runs with L1 and this provides some balance for me to also have people coming short. Btw that's one thing I'm trying to improve on (the self-reflection part I mentioned), using R1 to call people short more. Have to learn how to use both in tandem, it's something you often see the top players do and it creates very nice dynamics. Which is key considering how stale attacking AI is...

Took most of these tactics from a portuguese pro, JOliveira10. The only thing I didn't really like and will probably change is the players in the box being on 6, I usually have it quite low (3, max 4) and I think I prefer it that way. As the best way to create chances against deep blocks is to start on the wing, work your way to the center and then get in the box, and I felt I lacked some support to do so as they would just rush in. I turned OBS on sometimes, depending on opponent and context. If they were very good at exploiting the wings I took it off. If they were exposing me through the center/were generally high level I turned it on. If I felt the opponent was weaker I left it off. So on and so forth...

As for the team, 850k is my attempt to not clickbait. Because more than 25% of it is due to HL Adama, who is a sub and only gets in at late stages of games. And almost 50% is due to Red Son, who to be honest is far from being the star player he should be. That's why I didn't even use him at striker. Very good at a supporting role, jammy as hell and a reliable finisher, but he lacks the star-factor I mentioned above to pretty much give you games on his own. I'd put the actual value of a team similar to this at 600k or something. The team is something like 70k + untradeables, as I decided to invest all on Oblaks and other high rateds in anticipation for the Mid Icon SBC. Didn't work out so well, but without that I wouldn't write this so there's that :D

The player who impressed me the most was, surprisingly enough, the one on 8 chem. Renato. Used him at RB a lot and he was great, but at CM he runs the show. He'll probably stay at CM even on my main team. Has it all really - good shot, nimble, quick, great passer, double 4 star combo and a very strong build/defensive capabilities which allow him to be a beast on that end.

As for the games, one guy I beat in particular was 100% a verified player, plays qualifiers as well (and I almost faced him there, funnily enough). Some games seemed easier than they should but especially at max ELO I could tell most of my opponents were at least Elite level. As for the losses, the first one was against an absolute rat who thought it was funny to shush to the halfway line after he scored each goal, despite his team being worth at least 10x mine. Even scored first and had the game kind of controlled, but he got 2 quick goals back and I couldn't really get in the game after. Good player though, searched him and he got E1 at least once. 2nd and 3rd losses were ridiculous, I could tell they were not on my level but a mix of finishing being terrible and some stupid mistakes on my end meant I lost those. 4th game was against a French pro clubs player who also had a lacklustre team (La Liga team with Griezmann, Bale and the classic baby meta defense), he was actually very good and although I think I could've easily won the game if some things fell my way, it was all in all pretty close and one I can live with pretty well. 5th game was against a guy with a god squad that absolutely rekt me, no complaints whatsoever there. I mean, could go about team imbalance but, as I want to show with this post, that can't always be the excuse. And in that game it wasn't, he was just better and actually could've won by more.

How have I improved as a player/how can you do it? There's much more to it than what I'll say below, as the post is already quite long too, but some pointers below:

    • If you can, get a monitor. Seriously. It transformed my game so much. Understand some people may not have the means, but in particular if you're one to spend FIFA Points, play on a TV and complain that you still can't get good results... don't. A monitor is worth more than the same amount it costs on FIFA Points. Or 10x that amount for that matter.

    • Player switching. The main skill gap between players. Rule is simple: L1/LB if you want a quick switch to the closest player to the ball, right stick if you want more targeted and precise switches. Which is a great deal of the time. So, force yourself to use the right stick more. It will take a while to even get decent, but push through it. It will improve you tremendously as a defender.

    • Avoid pressing tackle. This is stupid advice for a stupid game, but it is what it is. L2+R2 and bumping into your opponent gives you similar results, you don't get called for a foul nearly as often you do after tackling and you have a much easier time recovering if your opponent tricks you. If you're a situation in which you're 100% sure you'll get the ball and want the extra force fell free to tackle, but mostly avoid it.

    • Don't be scared to be aggressive. People love to tell you not to select your defenders, well that's bullshit. To break to actual elite level you need to read your opponent before even he knows what he's doing, and then just go for him at all force. You may look like a fool at first, but as for the switching part, keep practising and you'll improve. Sure you need to cover passing lanes, but after they're covered don't just stand there. You took an option from your opponent, so he'll probably just go on his own. You can infer that, so you can act on it before he even does it. So switch and attack the ball holder, if it is with your defender so be it. Obviously try not to be too chaotic (though I fail at following this advice sometimes :) ) and keep some sort of shape, but defend proactively, not reactively.

    • Master the key skills. Ball roll and Dragback mainly. But try to learn the angles of the Elastico as well. As it is so hard to create space it's particularly important. There is a certain variation of the Elastico that works as the scoop turn worked last year, and that's the one I use the most - basically you're close to the box, turning to the sideline, and do an half-turn on your right stick on the back of your player (pretty much look at your player in game and imagine you're designing an arch on his back with the stick), finishing in the direction of the box. They'll turn inwards very fast and create a lot of separation, after which you can pull off a quick shot or do something else.

    • Perfect your playstyle, don't change it. Many people just try to emulate pros, that doesn't work. I was always a very fast/blitz attacker (even though the style I prefer in real life is the Pep/Cruyff one, funny how it works lol) and although the game isn't rewarding for playing as such, I stick with it. Just take these tidbits I'm giving and other good ones you see and add them into your game. You'll have your unique strenghts as well, no matter how niche they can be, so make sure to not neglect them.

So yeah, it's pretty much it. If you have any question regarding this or anything else related to FIFA feel free to ask!

PS: I tried the eCL Phase I qualifiers with this team too (only Verified players can participate), and actually won the first two ties lol. That's probably a bigger achievement than getting 25, but one the general community probably doesn't relate to as much, so I decided not to focus on it.

€A ruined the longevity of the game be removing icon sbcs

    Posted: 24 Feb 2020 11:03 AM PST

Atleast previously we had something to play towards. I'm not sure about you guys but I just log on to check content and go back to playing another game. There's nothing to play for haven't played champs in a month that 86+ is a rip off have a team I'm happy with while knowing I'll never afford the high end icons I had last year. Even in June last year I was grinding towards prime gullit.

These special cards they've been releasing every week are not affordable or in my personal case desirable bar one or two. Red picks are never good i don't want to be an elite player cos gameplay isn't fun with to much rng. It's the end of feb and there's no point playing anymore till tots cards are in picks.

What's your opinions? You guys think this is going to hurt the player base in the long run?
