Evidence of in-game player stat manipulation

    Posted: 08 Dec 2019 09:52 AM PST

TL;DR: if you want to know if you are going to have a terrible game, check your free kick menu to see if your players in game stats have been manipulated for that game.

Get your ton foil hats on kids...

Today during a Weekend League game I was winning 2-0, I was awarded a free kick and I decided to try out Rashford instead of my regular taker Digne.

Rashford normally has an in game shot power of 88, I have hawk applied to him and he gets a +11 to shot power making it 99. When I opened the 'kick taker select' menu. I picked Rashford and of course missed the free kick, I'm terrible at them.

Fast Forward to the next game, I'm getting beat 3-1 and it's around the 80th minute. One of those games where nothing is going your way, corners are dropping in front of the goal and getting smashed in by the other teams left back. I get free kick in reasonable distance and once again decide to go with Rashford instead of Digne (might as well 99 shot power smash it at the goal). But when I opened the menu, Rashford's shot power was 93. Not 99 with hawk and not 88 as the regular card stats. Why would my stats be different? Why only 94% of what his stat was during other games?

This falls in line with how from game to game, the stats of players will change for the duration of that game, multiplying a players entire stat list by 0.94. This is in line with Dynamic Difficulty Adjustment, players on winning steaks with see their stats multiplied by 0.94 or lower. While players on losing steaks could potentially have their players stats multiplied by higher amounts 1.05 or 1.10.

This could explain Auba or Vardy getting run down by a 60 pace CB. While their stats are x0.94 and the CB is x1.15.

Attacking and Defensive Positioning, Finishing, Passing, Tackles, and Keeper Stats (ever have a game where the opposite keeper makes 18 saves? I have, a keeper with x1.25 stats would be able to do that). All of these can explain the feel of a player missing chances they normally would make because instead of a regular 85 or 90 rating can be lowered by as much as 7-10 points, making the player on par with lesser players.

From a software development and QA standpoint, this is a Test Case that can easily be missed. Testing to see if the player stats display the same in all pause menus is important to test for, but a junior developer might not take into account in-game quick menus such as free kick taker selection. Other thing like quick player subs are (not sure if patched) not taken into account for game modes in FUT friendlies where subs aren't allowed. Chances are they missed this quick menu too.

Next time you play, keep an eye on your teams stats in the "select kick taker" quick menu from a free kick, or offside call. If they are lower than normal, then be ready for an uphill battle of a game, because those stats aren't the only ones lower than normal for that game.

EDIT: claims are that fitness effects this. I will have to test, but I don't recall ever seeing changes in free kick stats within the game match from 1st min to 90th min. Usually those stats have always been the same when I'm picking who should take a free kick or corner.

EDIT: for the fitness claimers, play a game and check your players stats in the quick player switch menu while you're standing over the ball. Does it diminish throughout the game? Also go into a game with less fitnees than 99, does it show lesser than face value?

    Do u suck at FIFA?

    Posted: 08 Dec 2019 12:30 PM PST

Here are my top tips to be a better FIFA player:

    1. Don't spam sprinting: When you attack, try to make link up plays. Be patient and your chances will come.
    2. You don't need META players to win: I play 4-2-3-1 narrow with Thiago and Jorginho IF as my 2 CDMs. Pretty slow eh? But i can still make it Gold 2 or 3 every week easily!
    3. Use your midfielders to defend: Don't pull your defenders out of position. The further your defenders away from goal, the more risk you face. Use the players you like, even if they are Busquets or Hummels.
    4. Consistently switching your players when defending at your own half: Don't just use 1 player to defend. They will be out of position very soon.
    5. Don't hesitate to kick the ball out of play whenever needed: If your opponents press you hard, kick the ball out. No need to hold possesion all the time. Players even with 99 composure will make mistakes.
    6. You are not Tekkz: sooner or later you will lose. Don't give up. You win some you lose some.

In its current state the skill gap in FIFA 20 is the lowest it has been since release. (LONG).

    Posted: 08 Dec 2019 01:55 PM PST

Long post, apologies for boring anyone out of their mind but here are my thoughts, the game has gone backwards since release it would seem and In its current state the skill gap in FIFA 20 has never been lower:

    • Goalkeepers are wildly overpowered, clear cut chances are not rewarded, near post shots and sweaty goals rain supreme as any normal shot is not a viable option when every single player has a high tier goalkeeper that is making 10+ saves a game routinely.

    • The latest update to passing has thoroughly hurt the skill gap, playing 180 no look passes out from defence to break a press is the norm now, removing any thought or skill needed to effectively play it out from the back.

    • Even with the passing "fix" issued in the last patch passes are still being wildly misplaced in easy situations with players with very high passing stats.

    • Dragback's are still severely OP, CB's do not react to the movement a player commits to once executed and once a player learns how to press R1 they can create chances without thought, do this enough times thorough a match with decent players and it will result in a goal.

    • Delay renders the game unplayable outside of a period (in my experience) after 10:30AM and before about 9PM, playing any games in this period is a coin toss as to who wins and if the opponent is considerably closer to the servers they're at a significant advantage regardless of skill level.

    • Dribbling is redundant, players with high ball control and dribbling will not be able to get the ball under control or beat a man when the opponent wildly sprints at the ball receiver. The inability to change direction furthers the cut back meta as sprinting to the byline is far far easier than cutting inside.

    • Fouls are inconsistent and at some times feel like they're given to shift the tide of a period of play, successfully pressing someone into an error only for them to be given a foul and a free ticket out of it is soul destroying.

    • Auto-blocks, Auto-lunge and auto clearance's are all unwanted features either for you or against you.

TLDR: FIFA is broken, many games victors are decided via complete RNG and I won't be playing FIFA for the foreseeable future until a patch releases addressing these issues.

Famous cricketer, Steven Finn, calls out EA...

EA succeeding in convincing this community that this game is playable with delay is a crime

    Posted: 08 Dec 2019 04:17 AM PST

it's mindblowing that this community still thinks that you can actually adjust to this shit, and that you need to find a way to play good under these conditions.

the irony is that football is maybe a game that's absolutely MOST sensitive to connection issues in the whole gaming industry.

you CAN'T play under current conditions guys, just accept it, game is unplayable. you're addicted to wins because they eventually lead to better rewards -> more packs -> dopamine injection, that's it.

if there were no rewards, if it was pure gameplay only, no one would play it because everyone would be able to see it as it is - un fuckin playable.

    So disappointing

    Posted: 08 Dec 2019 02:26 PM PST

I just went to 22-7 for the first time and lost my game last game for elite. I feel like never playing again. I know I will but it was an even game and I lost 4-1 to deflection and rebounds. My players missed sitters. I mean ea cheating me so hard in this all important game is so unfair. I am not even mad, just really sad tbh.

Surry for the rant, I hippie you all do well. I know I'm not good with g1 constantly. I am just really trying to get to elite and from 21-6 to 22-8 is really annoying.

    Posted: 08 Dec 2019 09:22 AM PST

There was no one buying 1000 84s and people playing with shitters for 3 months till those cards rise in price. There was no „stay liquid" bs that people on here say every week till TOTS and there wasn't everyone being a bad copy of the good players. Copying their tactics 1 by 1 and trying to be just as them. Game was fun back then , feels like people think of it as a business now
