r/fifa as a whole is becoming more and more out of touch with the casual community

    Posted: 28 Feb 2020 12:09 PM PST

Many of us, myself included, consider ourselves casual players. We don't have TOTY Mbappe or a Prime Icon. We haven't spent thousands on FIFA points so we consider ourselves casuals.

However, the fact that we have sought out an online community to discuss and complain about FIFA does not make us casual players. Being a casual player didn't bring us to this subreddit, we came here because we have a higher interest in the game.

The true casual player does not browse r/fifa. The true casual loads up his/her desired game mode (usually FUT) and gets their news, promos, etc in that traditional manner.

The objective cards are marketed for these players. People who actually play the game for enjoyment (however little that may be). In consideration of the recent Acuna and Bartra cards, a true casual player is stoked to have such good cards that they don't have to pay for.

On this sub, people complain about these cards, saying things like, "I refuse to play Rivals for a card that's only 150k on market" etc etc. For a lot of casual players, 150k might be half of their club value, especially people who recently purchased the game.

We have every right to be pissed at EA for many things (untradeable packs, upgrade errors, the list goes on), but these "free" cards should not be one of those things.

Edit: TLDR: We on r/fifa are not casual players and shouldn't criticize EA for content geared toward them.

Does anyone else not really use the winger on the further side of your tv screen

    Posted: 28 Feb 2020 01:47 AM PST

Maybe I'm just high but I feel like whenever I play I mainly play through whoever is on the bottom of my screen. I feel like I'm the only one who does this, anyone else? Obviously I'll use the further away winger or full back if I have to but most halves are dominated by bottom side tv

I opened packs worth 11m coins! Here are the results

    Posted: 28 Feb 2020 09:58 AM PST

So two weeks ago I was fed up and decided to quit FUT. Now I tried to quit before so I knew I had to take some drastic measures to make sure I would not come back. That's why I decided to sell my whole team and to open packs with the coins I gained.

Selling the team and every other tradeable player in my squad got me a total of 5.963.923 coins (I guess other countries may use commas instead of dots but I'm sure you'll figure it out). Now I did all this on Sat 15th February (during Winter Refresh) and I was actually hoping to spend all of the 6million coins during lighting rounds. But private stuff happened and I ended up missing them. That's why for the next 9 days I opened almost every promo pack EA put on the store.

Before we get to the results, I should also mention that I decided to sell everyone with an OVR of 83 or higher on the transfer market by simply listing them without adjusting any prices. Everything else was discarded right away. Now from the headline you can tell I made roughly 5mil coins with that method but let's look at the results a little closer.

First of all here is the Top 10 of players I pulled:

    1. Pique 88
    2. Neuer 88
    3. UCL Reus 88
    4. Alisson Becker 89
    5. Sergio Busquets 89
    6. Luis Suarez 89
    7. Kante
    8. Ter Stegen 90
    9. Oblak 91
    10. Prime Kaka 91

Obviously this is sorted by rating so other notable pulls include: Shapeshifter Gueye (87), Winter Refresh Cornet (86), Winter Refresh Florenzi (86) or Winter Refresh Chiesa (84). And yes we'll talk about Kaka later.

Here is an overview/summary of what happened when. I hope it's self explanatory but if there are any questions or corrections I'm very much open for it.

Day Start Cost in Coins End Coins Gained Cost in FUT-Points Rare Players Walkouts Coins per FUT-Point
    Day 1 5.963.923 1.665.000 4.754.933 456.010 27.450 297 6 16,61
    Day 2 4.754.933 1.415.000 3.831.347 491.414 22.450 237 10 21,89
    Day 3 3.831.347 760.000 3.484.574 413.227 12.950 121 6 31,91
    Day 4 3.484.574 875.000 4.459.773 1.850.199 15.250 165 5 121,32
    Day 5 4.459.773 975.000 3.761.114 276.341 17.250 189 3 16,02
    Day 6 3.819.223 1.175.000 2.857.401 213.178 21.250 237 4 10,03
    Day 7 2.857.401 1.715.000 1.618.658 476.257 28.450 309 8 16,74
    Day 8 1.618.658 1.875.000 452.296 708.638 37.500 450 10 18,90
    Day 9 452.296 500.000 145.736 193.440 10.000 120 7 19,34

So in total I opened packs worth of 10.955.000 coins and I still had 145.532 coins left after day 9 but I also got 58.109 coins from WL rewards on day 6 (silver one). So overall this means if I had opened all these packs with FUT-Points this would have cost me more than 1.440€ (~1.200GBP or ~1.584USD) and I would have made 5.166.127 coins. Or 26,83 points per FUT-Point which would equal to 321.960 coins per 12.000 FUT-Points. This is quite remarkable, considering that most streamers and pros say that 12.000 FUT-Points usually give you around 200.000 to 250.000 coins. The reason for our high return rate is obviously the outlier Prime Kaka. Without him (I sold him for 1.760.000 coins) I would have made 3.406.127 coins which equals 17,69 coins per FUT-Point and 212.280 coins per 12.000 FUT-Points.

In total I opened: 105 Premium Gold Players Packs 36 Prime Gold Players Packs 27 Jumbo Rare Players Packs 21 Ultimate Packs 20 Rare Players Packs 7 Rare Mega Packs (with a total of 76 Rare Players)

After I opened the first batch of packs I figured that it may become problematic to compare the results since I have so many different types of packs with most packs having quite a small sample size. But then I realized, that whenever EA puts out odds for special cards, the odds in Jumbo Rare Players Packs are always twice as high as in Rare Players packs. This means the chances of a walkout or a special card is not being calculated in dependency of the packs but in dependency of how many rare players a pack gives you. For me this means, if I solely focus on how many rare players I got, I can gain somewhat comparable results.

In total my 10,5mio coins worth of packs got me 2.005 rare players (this number would have been higher had I been able to solely open packs that include nothing but rare players). Out of those 2.005 rare players I managed to pull 59 walkouts. This means every 34th player I pulled was a walkout. This also means for every rare player I got there was a 2,89% chance of getting a walkout.

Walkouts were divided into packs like the following:
105 Premium Gold Players Packs: 16 Walkouts (including Prime Kaka) 36 Prime Gold Players Packs: 6 Walkouts 27 Jumbo Rare Players Packs: 15 Walkouts 21 Ultimate Packs: 13 Walkouts 20 Rare Players Packs: 8 Walkouts 7 Rare Mega Packs: 1 Walkout Note: Walkouts were counted even if they did not walk out of the pack. So if in one pack I got a walkout and additionally another player that would have been a walkout I counted that as well.

To collect my data I usually only noted the highest rated player of every pack except for when there were multiple high-rated or valuable players. Interestingly enough I did not once pull 80 rated Ferland Mendy.

On average (arithmetic) the highest rated player of each pack had a rating of 82,93. For each pack the averages look like this:
105 Premium Gold Players Packs: 81,85 36 Prime Gold Players Packs: 82,86 27 Jumbo Rare Players Packs: 84,81 21 Ultimate Packs: 84,38 20 Rare Players Packs: 84,20 7 Rare Mega Packs: 84,00

So overall I got some really interesting results and maybe this helps one or two people to make a decision on whether they should spend money on ultimate team or not. Thank you for reading this far I'm really looking forward to your feedback. If there is interest in my data I would not mind to upload the whole excel sheet even though I am not quite sure yet what the best way to that would be.

If there are any questions, remarks or corrections, please let me know.

tl;dr: I spent the equivalent of 1.440€ on packs. I got 59 walkouts. Prime Kaka was by far the best pull, everything else was shit.

    Posted: 28 Feb 2020 09:37 AM PST

So I've just been absolutely spanked. 7-0. I never rage quit, as I always like to learn from my beatings no matter the scoreline. But I came close today. After every goal some muppet shushed me every goal, while running to the corner flag, while watching the replay, while watching the running back cutscene. Then, when you got to 5-0, you paused the game 3 times to make three separate substitutions, making it probably the longest, most painful game I've ever had to endure. Then despite taking my beating like a man, after the game you inbox me to tell me how much I suck.

I come home from work to enjoy a game of FIFA. I'm not good at the game and shall always willingley take my beatings. But if you are one of those people I have just described, then respect the other gamer you are hammering and at least don't be a complete tool and make it a chore to game as opposed to enjoyment.

I've found recently I've been coming across too many people like this.

Elite players who shush with God 10+ mil squads: Why?

    Posted: 28 Feb 2020 12:11 PM PST

Was just playing for my 8th win and faced a god squad with 90 gullit, prime cruyff, toty de jong, and more. Pretty much every pro player's qualifying squad. I scored the first goal of the game and skipped the replay. He scores and watches the replay but doesn't shush or anything. He scores the next one and runs around shushing and watching the replay..scores again and does the same thing..... you can buy fifa points but you can't buy dignity.

Was busy all morning and logged into FUT a little while ago. Realized I only had 33 mins to finish the objective (2 more wins with am Argentinean goal scorer). FUCK. Thought I wouldn't have enough time.

Game 1 was close, but wound up winning 2-0. Was hoping the guy would quit early but didn't.

Game 2 running low on time. Scored 2 quick goals. Finally put in a 3rd one and he quit before half-time. Success! With 8 mins to spare. Feelsgoodman.jpg
