    How many hours of grinding would it take to earn a top-tier Icon or Squad/why EA is disgusting.

    Took some time to calculate how long it would take to earn enough coins to buy a top-tier Icon like Prime Moments Gullit or Eusebio, and how long it would take to earn a full squad of top-tier players. For these calculations, I'm assuming the player is good (Division 4 and finishes Gold 1), so this would vary a bit depending on skill level. I'm also assuming you earn about 50% coins from tradeable packs (I think this is generous), and I'm taking coins for Rivals rewards. I'm counting 450 coins for match rewards. You can see the spreadsheet here.

    Also, keep in mind that you're probably going to be spending about 24 hours/week grinding to get these rewards. This will be even slower if you're stopping at Gold 3 in WL, Rank 3 in Rivals, or not grinding Squad Battles.

    It will likely take you a little over 1000 hours of gameplay to earn 13 million coins which is about what PM Eusebio & Gullit cost (remember when there was outrage over the 40-hours required to unlock Vader in Battlefront II AND THEY CHANGED IT?!) This means if you started the grind during Early Access and you haven't spent ANY coins all year, you would just now be able to afford your first top-tier player.

    If you want a full god-tier squad, that'll cost about 70 million coins. Keep in mind that once FIFA 21 releases, there won't be any more weekend league in FIFA 20, which will slow down your progress considerably. This would mean over 10,000 hours of gameplay, and you'd have enough coins to buy your squad on October 7, 2027. THAT'S OVER 8 YEARS!!! Keep in mind that the oldest FIFA currently online is FIFA 15, and once FIFA 21 releases, most of these top cards will be extinct. If you're on PC, sorry, they're already extinct.

    NOT TO WORRY, you can earn coins much faster by buying packs with FIFA Points! Now players/squads just cost you money instead of time! You can probably get Gullit for about $4,000 or £3,000! That God squad I mentioned earlier will run you about $21,000 or £17,000. This is equivalent to working a minimum-wage job in the USA full-time for 72 weeks BEFORE taxes.

    Would you like to have the best players that FIFA 20 has to offer (even though you'll still get wrecked by Daniel James), or would you rather have a new car! The decision is yours! Best part is, you get to start over again every year!

    TL;DR it is physically impossible to earn the best team in FIFA by simply playing the game. If you want a god-tier squad it will literally cost you a new car, or working a crappy job for over a year.

    Wishful thinking here obviously but it would be great to open lots of icon packs if you knew that Gullit / Eusebio / Cruyff / R9 could eventually come along, rather than a duplicate Nakata / Baresi / Moore / Inzaghi.

    Of course people could game the system if you could never get ANY tradeable duplicates (by buying up all the cheaper icons then opening icon packs), so I think this should apply only to untradeables. It would lower the cost of icons as well as top tier players quite a bit, I imagine.

    Hi you all, Before starting this little guide I have to tell you that I actually started to play regularly around the Ligue 1 TOTSSF, every fifa since the introduction of WL I have been a regular gold 2 player with some sparks of gold 1, never beyond that.

    This fifa I couldn´t play regularly until the lockdown, Getting gold 3 or silver 1 every WL which was a bummer for me. My problem was that I was trying to implement the so called "meta" into my game, you know the one, the 4-2-3-1 drop back meta. It helped me at te begginning because I didn't really had a good team, but the better cards people were getting the worse I was getting at defending those full barcelona guys, so I started thinking why should I give them so much time to think? Since it was clearly a weakness for me.

    So here we go with the guide that got me my first gold 2 of the WL season, and that actually made me have some fun while getting it.

    In previous installments I have always liked 4-4-2 or 4-1-2-1-2 (narrow) for this type of gamplan and this year is not different.

    DEFENSE

    Defensive Style: Press after posession lossWidth: 4Depth: 7

    Offensive style: Fast Build up

    Width: 4

    Players in the box: 5

    Corners: 1

    Free Kicks: 2

    Players instructions:

    Strikers instructed to star central and get in behind

    Wingers instructed to stay wide and get in behindCenter mids to cover center position and balanced attack (this one was important for me)

    Fullbacks stay back while attacking.

    Center Backs unchanged.

    First of all, the most important part to get the system to work is to get good at reading your oponent passes. If your first instinct when lossing the ball is running back with every one of your players and just wait for the opponent to fuck up then stop thinking that, I don't know how you have to do it but do it.The 4-4-2 is almost pefect for this system because you can basically press in every single part of the pitch, I've got a lot of goals just by inducing errors on my opponent side of the pitch. If their defenders are passing the ball press with one of your strikers BUT (here is the bullshit fifa 20 part) don't try to tackle them just get close to them and they will probably pass the ball to any other player, if the pass to other defender then use the other striker, if the pass to a midfielder use any of your midfield players depending on which side of the pitch.I played a lot with one center mid in stay back and other to go in front, while at first I tought this was the best way to balance my midfield after a while I saw a good gap between both CM's, having both in balanced attack makes them press and cover better.You have to be really concentrated while doing this because if you play against someone really good they can get on your goal easy, but practice this for a week and you can probably get it. Other thing I have to say is be patient, you will get probably a lot of goals against you, but believe me you will get a lot of goals too :)

    CAM Stay forward and get into the box for crosses

    Center mids to cover center position and balanced attack (this one was important for me)

    CDM Stay back while attacking and cover center.

    Fullbacks stay back while attacking.

    Center Backs unchanged.

    This one is just the same, I know it's weird how it doesn't have as much depth as the other one and it's suppose to be the formation that helps me chasing a game, this is more of a "ok this guy is good at passing even when he is pressed or this guy is getting all the bounces back to his players" typpe of formation. Basically with this one you have a congested midfield and you can press a lot too, basically the same as with the 4-4-2 just giving wingers (if the opponent uses them) more freedom so you have to be aware of that and seriously need good pace on both fullbacks, for me defending the wings isn't really hard I think it's the best part of my defending game lol. I basically use this one after I get a goal behind, If I get to tie the game depending on how I read the game I stay with this one or go back to the 4-4-2.

    I recommend you to have a going all out type of formation that suits your best part of the game for those games where you seriously need to get goals to tie the game, also an all at the back formations but only, and I repeat, ONLY when you seriously think you are defending well and you have a serious chance to get the W, this last WL I used my defensive formation just one in a really tight game at the last 10 minutes of the game but I still don't like it very much lol.

    TL;DR; Use these formations if you want to change your game and if you want to press better. You will get a lot of goals but probably will concede a few too.

    I mean, it's not a free mode, we still have to pay 15k to play it, and is so sad when you get an awfull team. I play 2~3 drafts each day (farming packs), and the picks sometimes are boring.

     

    The captain choose is a completely mess, damn, gold cards, really? I really can't see a reason for silver players on the picks, nor bad players, come'on, EA, let us use fun squads.
