    TOTW Upgrade SBC (Repeatable)

    This is going to be a long post, but I dropped from Div 3 (1490 skill rating) to Div 7 (680 skill rating) to see how hard it would be to climb back up. (In July)

    The relegation: I gave everyone I played the win (~ 25-30 games). 1 person dabbed on me, and no one shushed me. Almost everyone skipped replays. I was pleasantly surprised- I expected some nasty messages or shushes along the way but got none.

    The journey back up:

    I played one game going down in Div 6 since the game started kicking me out. Decent squad, pretty good player- I would put them at around Div 5. Won comfortably, but it wasn't a blowout.

    Div 7: First game was pretty easy. It was a 190 squad, and they quit after I scored 2 goals. Second game, they were decent (I would say around Div 5), but still took the win. Pretty easy promotion to Div 6.

    Div 6: Division 6 is crazy. First game-Egypt flag, ManU stadium and badge, with a 191 squad bronze benching. I could immediately tell they were a decent player. Went 2-1 down, took the lead to 4-3, and in the 93 minute (2 minutes of extra time) they scored a crap goal. Clearly not a division 6 player, I would say slightly worse than me (high Div 4). Rest of the games up were pretty straightforward.

    Div 5: Won a first tight game where he moved his keeper, then lost 2 in a row to decent players but terrible gameplay. The rest of the games up were pretty straightforward- played a god squad with FB Mbappe, TOTS Ney, FdJ, Messi in it.

    Div 4: Honestly didn't feel too different compared to D5. I made it up to ~1500 skill rating while only losing 1 game and tying 1.

    TL;DR Division 6 is sweaty af, but there isn't that much of a gap between D6 and D4 in my opinion.

    This could have massive implications on UT, as the regulation can be applied immediately, because they only need to amend the Gambling Act to include loot boxes as illegal.

    If it goes through, it will be right before FIFA 21 launches and British players would no longer be able to purchase packs to keep up with other countries, completely screwing over not only prominent E-Sports FIFA players but also average players. Curious to see what EA does in that case. Even if they take it to court it will be swiftly defeated, in Belgium it only took 3 months, which means that in this case they would have to take out loot boxes before Christmas. Either way looks shitty for British players. What do you think EA will do if this goes through?

    The first 89+ double upgrade was available for 120 hours, from 4 August to 9 August.

    The second 89+ double upgrade was available for 72 hours, from 9 August to 12 August.

    The third 89+ double upgrade is available for just 48 hours from now until 14 August.

    Anyone else left with under 50k coins in their club and barely any fodder, but still find themselves stressing to complete these SBCs in time because of FOMO?

    With the amount I’ve wasted on prime icon sbcs, I could have done all this last year

    So I thought it would be interesting to compare my outlay on icons this year compared to what I could have done last year.

    I've done five of the PIM sbcs and 11 of the prime SBCs.

    The current cost of the PIM sbc is 550k (may even be more now)

    The cost of the prime sbc, assuming current prices, was 350k.

    The total price for the sbcs I've done is therefore 6.6m.

    (For reference, my best pull has been prime Henry who barely gets in my team as it is. The rest have been discard icons.)

    I've checked the prices of the top icon sbcs last year at this exact time (12 August 2019) and I could have completed Prime Ronaldo (2.59m) Prime Gullit (2.16m) and PIM Cruyff (1.87m) using the fodder I have wasted on these sbcs.

    Before anyone says 'well it was your choice to waste it'. I literally have no choice if I want to play with the best icons. I cant buy prime R9. I have to try and pack him. I don't have 6.6m coins or anything close but I could have done R9 last year using the fodder I've given up this year.

    Seriously if ea can't bring back the only fun thing about the end of the game cycle then it may finally be the year I give it up. I don't want to play with 96 rated Jesé lingard even if he is better than PIM gullit. I want to play with my favourite childhood icons.

    I'll start off saying is absurd the low pack weight, if EA put in packs every special version, they would bait people into buying FIFA 21 more.

    I'll add that this is a lousy promo, so much wasted potential on the European Championships licenses.

    Having said that, I keep seeing posts about the game being dead because of no special players, because the game is terribly annoying/boring. If you need those cards to keep you playing, maybe you should go for a game that will entertain you more. I personally enjoy playing most of the time (broken as it is) and like to play various squads (my juve past/present is rocking hahaha), and albeit I'd play more if there were objectives, I have no problem turning the game on for a couple of games a couple of days per week, with the pack weight being terrible as it is.

    NEW SQUAD UPDATE IS BROKEN!!

    For everyone playing career mode and using the most updated squad file (august 12, 2020), the majority of loan players were made permanent even if they had not been bought by the loanee club. For examples, Dean Henderson was made permanent to Sheffield Utd, William Saliba made permanent to ASSE, Ovie Ejaria to Reading permanent, and many more. Another slight mistake is now that these players have been made permanent, it shows their club joined date as their previous clubs joined date, for example making Danny Rose been at Newcastle since 2007. DON'T USE THE MOST RECENT SQUAD UPDATES UNTIL THIS HAS BEEN FIXED!

    Theory: This promo is just a test to see how much they can screw the market.

    So we get apparently the best of the year in packs, but we only get 50 cards.

    This way they make 81-84 cards crazy expensive, and they make us believe we can pack something decent but it's still less than 1% chances of packing anything decent.

    Why else would they refrain themselves from selling "promo" packs on the store, I doubt they are showing restraint or caring for the consumer.
