Congrats to everyone who made it through to the next round. This is where the tournament really heats up. Losing now would be heartbreaking as we are very close to the final! In fact, for PC we have reached the final.

The rules are the same as they have been all tournament, but lemme know if you have any questions. I'm not gonna waste your time by writing them all out.

    The fixtures are as followed:

You know shouldn't do it. You know it won't be value for money. You know you'll end up disappointed and empty and wondering why you never learn.

You also know you'll do it.

After being radio silent for months, EA FiFa Direct is answering a truck load of questions on twitter

    Posted: 05 Aug 2020 12:15 PM PDT

seems like a Deja Vu 🤔

and of course when FiFa 21 doesn't deliver, and these same people make tweets pointing out the flaws, it'll be back to Radio Silence again

... until maybe Black Friday or TOTY 😇

    Improving career mode

    Posted: 04 Aug 2020 11:47 PM PDT

Career Mode in FIFA has been dead for a long time. EA bringing back the drop into games feature is not even revolutionary or even a feature that excites me. I have a few ideas on features I wanna see in career mode and some are easy to implement and some are harder but next gen gaming is coming and I don't see how they can't. So here they are:

Club reputation system: Clubs start with a specific reputation out of 5 stars. Clubs like Juventus, Bayern and Real Madrid will have a 5 star reputation that can attract top talent while clubs in the Championship will start with 2 or 3 stars. Winning games, winning against rivals, winning trophies, higher league standings, getting into cup finals increases your reputation so world class players will be more inclined join your club. But it takes several seasons of winning trophies and top 4 spots to get a 5 star reputation. This provides a better sense of achievement in winning games. Losing games and getting relegated decreases your reputation which will discourage players from staying in your club. Players like Mbappe will only move to a 5 star reputation club while someone like Lingard would be happy to be at a 1 star reputation club.

Improve facilities: Something people have been asking for ages. Spending the club budget on just transfers and scouts doesn't give the game much depth. Being able to spend it on improving club facilities like upgrading the stadium, the staff, the youth facilities, training equipment and medical facilities gives a more RPG feel to the game and improving club facilities can even increase your Club Reputation System™.

Add more traits to make transfers realistic: Traits like Loyalty/One Man Club traits already exist but what about Ambitious (wants a club that wins trophies) or Mercenary (player rarely stays in one club). And a player who stays in your club for more than 5 seasons develops the One Man Club trait and is unlikely to leave.

Add more traits to make managing fun: If you buy an expensive world class player there's a chance they'll have the Diva trait which can disrupt the team and will demand more from the manager in the team chat feature. Then having a player with a Leadership trait can defuse a player with the Diva trait. Having too many players with the Diva trait can cause team morale to go down and lead to lower team performance on the pitch. Players with the Ambitious trait will have to be properly managed with set expectations every season (I remember in old FIFAs you can set expectations to your team). Other traits can be Hot Headed (argues with manager) or Motivator (motivates the team). Players can either acquire new traits or lose traits depending on manager actions.

Player Adaptability System: A player from Spain transferring to your team in England may take some time to adjust to the team and the manager. Having more Spanish players in the team enables a player to adjust better in a new country. Also players will have a default formation meaning if their old team played a 352 their player performance would be better in a 352. Playing in a different formation takes time to get used to. As a manager I always found it weird to come into a new team that has a set formation and changing it into an entirely new one and yet none of the players have problems adjusting. Its like Klopp coming to Liverpool expecting all players to play a high pressure system and the team does exactly that in a single game.

Player Events Generator: Remember when Balotelli would ignore his manager to go partying or when Lloris was caught drunk driving? I'd like news like this to pop up more often and you as a manager would have to decide what actions to take or see how this would affect the team. I remember they had something like this in old FIFA albeit simple. Why not bring it back but tie it in with the player traits?

Player Club Stats: Another thing people have been asking for ages. I'd actually rather EA add a lifelong stat feature rather than a drop in during sim matches mechanic. I wanna see how my players do over multiple seasons and not just refreshed stats each season. I wanna be able to scout a player and see their transfer history and their previous stats. I wanna see what club honours each player has received over their playing history. Imagine clicking on a player to see how many PoTM and ToTW they won.

Youth System: The current system is too simplistic. Instead of scouts I'd rather have a youth academy system where players are sourced locally and can be upgraded to find better quality players. Anytime you start a new game your youth academy generates a team of youth players who will play in a fully simmed youth league. Monthly reports will come in on which players have performed, stat changes and what kind of weekly training should be implemented for GKs, Defenders, Midfielders, Wingers and Strikers. Youth training can be delegated based on what you're looking for. Besides upgrading your youth academy that can only source local players you can also spend to get a youth foreign recruiter like the La Liga Youth Brokerage.

    Other features to add:

    • Ability to customise kits
    • Better board expectations

Features to bring back to FIFA:

    • Sponsorship
    • Board requests
    • Enquire about transfer fee

Also things to fix in career mode:

    • AI clubs not renewing their players contract
    • Players with the most playtime complaining about playtime

Honestly FIFA career mode fans have a ton of ideas on how to improve the mode and we're willing to do it because we love football and managing a football club. And also honestly, EA can add most of these features because if Football Manager can do it with a lower budget and smaller team, EA can. I'm begging you EA for FIFA 22 it's gonna be fully on the next gen. It's time to revamp the mode.

85 Antonio PL POTM Requirements and Stats

    Posted: 05 Aug 2020 03:08 AM PDT

The UEL half time challenge with the requirements it has giving an untradeable pack worries me for FIFA 21

    Posted: 05 Aug 2020 11:07 AM PDT

I'm not a fan of how EA have snuck untradeable rewards into SBC challenges. Sometimes I see the requirements and the reward and say fair enough. But they have become more and more common and this challenge for that reward is terrible.

My feeling is EA will push untradeable hard making tradeable packs harder and harder to come by without fifa points.

I think that EA should add a feature that allows different formation options after at least one red card.

    Posted: 05 Aug 2020 08:07 PM PDT

Realistically, teams change their shape after a red card to make sure that there is not too much open space for the opposition. In FIFA, if you get a red card, that space is completely open. Some players cover that space but it still can be detrimental on some counter attacks. What do you guys think?

Icon token idea for FIFA 21

    Posted: 05 Aug 2020 03:00 PM PDT

I think it would be cool if instead of icon swaps, they should implement an objectives list in order to obtain the baby version of an icon and perhaps the mid version later own down the cycle. Similar to the disaster that was the Storyline players, but themed to the player, allowing the community to grind for every version of a baby icon or the players that they want. Similar to how NBA2K has spotlight challenges to obtain a great version of a player where you relive their career or play matches against different eras of that players team.

I.e. baby nakata is 8 objectives where you have to score with roma players in wins, japanese players in wins, etc.

Whilst Baby Cruyff can be like 20-25 objectives with themes of Ajax, Barcelona, Netherlands, 433(5) formation.

What do you think of this idea?

Pogba plays EXACTLY like real life

    Posted: 05 Aug 2020 03:05 AM PDT

I'm not sure if I've ever used a player in FUT that feels more like their real life counterpart.

Capable of a sublime cross field ball one minute, gives it away in his own half next minute. Physical presence dominating in the middle one game, going missing in the next.

Maybe it's just me but everything about the card feels exactly like the real life Pogba, and to me that's the appeal, I love the card.

But just like real life you either love him or hate him, nobody quite as polarising as Pogba!
