    r/FIFA October 2020 Mod Team Update

    Hello everyone, it's been a while since we have done one of these so we wanted to update you all with just a couple of things that we have been discussing and have been working on for the last few weeks.

    • Co-op Objectives

    With FIFA 21 about to be officially released for everyone, we've seen an incredible increase in threads from members of the community looking for other players to play with in order to complete Co-op objectives.

    We reacted as quickly as we could by creating a thread for this last Friday and consequently launched a new Weekly Objective Find-a-Friend Thread on Monday, which turned out to be pretty helpful.

    Unfortunately, we don't have room to pin this thread on top of the sub and make it visible for everyone all week long, which is causing an insane amount of individual threads to be posted with an average of almost 1 every 5 minutes.

    Since FIFA 21 was released with a lot of co-op objectives at launch and with more co-op objectives to come basically all year long, we used the experience from other big video gaming subreddits and decided to create r/FIFA_LFG

    This way, we can centralize everything into one single subreddit, which should make things a lot easier for everyone and prevent r/FIFA from being cluttered with individual posts which will quickly get lost in a sea of other topics. We understand it might take a few days or weeks for r/FIFA_LFG to get traction and have people participating, which is why we are tweaking Automod to send a PM to anyone submitting a co-op objective related thread as a "heads up".

    The r/FIFA_LFG subreddit will follow the same rules and guidelines r/FIFA runs with and will be monitored by the /FIFA Mod Team.

    • The Daily Squad Thread

    For those of you who have been here for a few years, you might remember we have tried more than a handful of things around the DST. From killing it completely and allowing individual squad threads, to then quickly go back to within 24 hrs as it is basically a necessary evil.

    One of the things we introduced last year was a Daily Discussion Thread, which turned out to be very well received but little by little stopped getting as many comments as when it was first introduced and eventually very little attention.

    Recently, we came up with an idea to test something and convert the Daily Squad Thread into a Hybrid of Daily Discussion/Casual Conversation + People sharing their teams and maybe getting some suggestions around them. We are open to suggestions on your end but if this sounds like a good idea for you, we might be introducing this in a week or two.

    A discussion thread could include casual things like "player prediction prices", "will such and such rise?", "are you taking untradeable or tradeable rewards", "any thoughts on this player", etc. We understand some of these might still be posted individually but some people might just prefer to add a quick question like this via a comment instead of an individual post. Keep in mind that all squad post related threads will still be only allowed inside here.

    • Mod Applications

    Just like almost every year when a new FIFA is out, the amount of threads we received on a daily basis increases dramatically. Just in the past 3 days, we've had almost 5 million pageviews and an average of 1,000 new subscribers every day.

    With that in mind, we are going to be looking for new moderators in the near future. We will be pinning a Mod Application thread for a few days once this happens.

    The fact we can't do this is kind of stupid. Why aren't we able to Preview the chants and songs we buy, especially considering most of them are expensive af? Seems like they didn't think things through

    I'm in love with Fifa 21 gameplay

    The GamePlay is brilliant. No shit AI defending. You defend with your heart out. Sometimes frantic, sometimes calculated. Power stand tackle is a game changer.

    Attacking is soooo fluid. Brilliant runs by players. Creative runs are difficult to master, but they can be a game changer.

    I just hope EA keeps it this way and doesn't patch it and make it similar to Fifa 20. Here's to hoping!

    P.S: I haven't seen such fluid gameplay since fifa 17

    If the game play stays the same I don't mind but the menu are very slow and hard to navigate. Im not saying they should patch everything on the menus but at least make it easier to navigate. I prefer last years menus way better.

    The game isn't perfect but is much better than 20. However, its nearly always decent in the early stages before they patch it back to the previous version, especially in terms of auto defending. I think this would be Fifa 17.4....

    Can we not get the message across to EA to not constantly mess about with everything so we don't have to relearn how to play every few weeks?

    Also, how about keeping defending as it is and MAKING PEOPLE LEARN HOW TO MANUALLY DEFEND??

    Give it two weeks and auto defending will be back. Or more specifically, it will get patches in just prior to Christmas so that everyone can win and spend spend spend on Fifa points.
