/r/FIFA: Moderator Application Thread OCTOBER 2020

    Posted: 12 Oct 2020 03:45 AM PDT

As we all start getting stuck into FIFA 21 and prepare for the next wave, we are holding an open call for moderators in order to help bring about a more constructive FIFA community..

This next wave of moderators will be joining the team as we start preparing for updating the subreddit and re-organizing for the army of children players that will be coming into community for a new season of FIFA 21.

Although all moderators will be working on improving the subreddit by removing posts that violate rules, answering questions via mod mail, approving content that gets eaten by the spam filter -- special consideration will be given to applicants who meet certain criteria outlined in the form. One big goal for the upcoming year is to make ongoing and updated changes to the look of /r/FIFA on mobile, true reddit, and that blasphemous update they call new reddit.

Ultimately, becoming a moderator is the best way to help influence the best FIFA community on the internet, make a big impact on how it's run and what kind of improvements can be made on our platform. If you're passionate about making things better and also enjoy looking at your screens in your downtime, you're the kind of mod we're looking for.

So how do you throw your hat in the ring?

Well for starters we're doing things a bit differently this year, and all applications will be submitted through this form. As opposed to previous years where we've had you reply directly to this thread.

EASIER TO CLICK LINK TO APPLICATION FORM

This thread will be stickied intermittently throughout the next few weeks. If you have a direct question about being a moderator, reply to this thread or send us a modmail.

APPLICATIONS WILL CLOSE 20:00 BST ON THE 23RD OF OCTOBER

Man landed on the moon in 1969 but EA can't reconnect you to the servers without giving you a loss in 2020

    Posted: 20 Oct 2020 05:04 AM PDT

It makes no sense to me why the player is punished for server disconnects especially if you're winning. Was just doing a single player draft game, won 2-0 and then just before I could go back into the main menu I disconnected from PSN and the EA servers. Within a minute I was back onto PSN and reconnected to the servers. Why was I given a loss? Surely the game should know I was winning and either act like the game never happened or just give me the win since, you know, the game ended. If I've not actually clicked quit match then don't punish me.

It baffles me how every other game pretty much has a manual save feature where you can return to a game from the exact moment you saved. FIFA itself now has a jump in gameplay mechanic in Career Mode. In any offline part of FIFA, why is this option to manually save during a game and join at any time not a thing? Any offline match should be saved regularly so in the instance of a disconnect you can jump back in. I mean there's no reason why FUT offline games can't be played without being online anyway and then they could just add up your points for things like Squad Battles when you reconnect to the servers.

Then with online why not give the player a minute window to reconnect to the server before the game properly ends? It could reconnect you and say "would you like to reconnect to game lobby?"

Just annoying how my 15k has just been wasted for absolutely no reason other than EA's incompetence and inability to benefit the player in situations that aren't their fault.

I think my game is haunted by the ghosts of these three players.

Ea please make the rival rewards on Monday so we actually have something to do Monday-Wednesday.

Sorry I know people have already complained about this, but the more people who complain the more likelihood that ea will fix it

EA needs to add celebrations where the goal scorer thanks the assist giver like Ansu Fati just did

    At 0:08 https://streamable.com/tkjlf6

Now I'm certainly not the first person to suggest this, however it's way more wholesome than silly dances.

Would be amazing in pro clubs as well if this dumbass company finally brings back zoomed in celebrations.

Don't really understand why they ever took this away.

So hard to go through and find Chem styles and position changes that you want to sell.

Skill moves should be stamina based.

    Posted: 20 Oct 2020 08:19 AM PDT

Hear me out. How many times do you come up against someone who only knows how to play one way? Once people find a couple of skill moves themselves or on YouTube that have animations too fast to be able to consistently counter then it doesn't take long for them to start being used exploitively i.e. the drag back last year.

We've always been of the opinion that constant high pressure should at least tire out defenders come the final third of the game, but what can you do when people sub in a loan Mbappe, sprint to the byline and skill spam their way into the box? Being able to do that over and over until it works isn't realistic and is recipe for a boring game.

This is in no way a complaint, people do that because it works, the game is so reward oriented for winning that players are going to do whatever it takes to get said rewards. I've been guilty of it myself, I know it's the most effective way to score so in games when I'm losing I'll revert to this sort of play style, it makes every game the same at higher levels. Don't get me wrong it's defendable but eventually that play style will work if it's tried over and over again in my experience. Adding a stamina based system would mean players would be forced to think a bit, or at least have somewhat of a cool down before trying the same thing again.

NBA 2K has a lot wrong with it, but if you bring the ball up the court and then do dribble moves with one player, their stamina takes the same sort of hit as if they were sprinting. Just think this would increase the skill gap between actual 'skillers' and those who will keep trying the same thing until it works, hopefully making games at higher divisions less samey and monotonous.

Or at least rare ones are. Bateson packed Bentancur and he was a board

Watching my opponent's players fall down after conceding in the 88' is oddly satisfying

A fitting punishment for this horrific crime

Petr Cech has been included in Chelsea's Premier Legaue squad.

    Posted: 20 Oct 2020 11:11 AM PDT

Can you imagine if all of Chelseas keepers get injured and Cech has to play, saves a penalty and deserves an inform.

Does this also mean that he'll be included in the game? I suspect career mode but not FUT as he has an icon.

So many people are sleeping on Dybala at CAM, he’s unbelievable and everything runs through him. An absolute bargain for 67k

Not great at doing these but I’d love for Tuanzebe to get a special card for his game today. Maybe in a new silver stars OBJ

This FIFA has changed my attitude

    Posted: 20 Oct 2020 09:19 AM PDT

I'll admit, I was loving and hating this game, but ultimately, I've decided to accept the simple fact that my defensive skills are utter shit. I've started watching the replays after opponents goals and seeing what I could have done and the mistakes I've made, which I haven't honestly done in another FIFA before. Barring things like connection issues and speed-up lag, I'm going to focus on improving my game instead of blaming it on something else. Having played since FIFA 13, I'm honestly really enjoying this FIFA, especially starting in D6 and now sitting in D3, the highest division I've played at. Hope y'all get good cards Thursday.
