FIFA is no longer a game of football, it’s game of mechanics abuse with a football.

    Posted: 12 Apr 2021 12:46 PM PDT

I played 8 games today in division 1 rivals and every game was the same; mechanics abuse / skill spam, whatever you want to call it.

Everyone is entitled to play how they want but this increasing trend of playstyle is becoming so boring to play against in my opinion. I rarely play anyone anymore who tries to play something that resembles football, instead they try to get into a 1v1 situation and then spam the directional nutmeg / la croqueta / skill cancel / ball roll into ball scoop usually with Ronaldo / Mbappe / Neymar who we all know have the jam in their favour.

It is mostly EAs fault at the end of the day with this year's terrible passing, attacking AI and AI defending. I see people say 'I skill a lot to break down defence' which I do agree with and understand but majority of the time it's spammed no matter where on the pitch and it's the OP skills which people know border on exploit like the current meta of the directional nutmeg.

I've played FUT for years and I think this playstyle began to become more prevalent in FIFA 19 with the ridiculous el tornado crosses and non-stop la croquetas (lemme not forget to mention the dragback as well) and it's got worse and worse since then. FIFA 21 is as bad as FIFA 19 because of this to me, we're at a point where this just isn't a football game anymore. Football IQ is no longer rewarded such as cutting the passing lanes, reading the game well etc because I will work hard for a goal and then concede from a Hail Mary through ball (don't get me started on the passing assistance this year) or directional nutmeg.

Before people say 'just because you can't skill', I'm SR 2320 and get E3/G1 in WL without the use of mechanics abuse / skill spam (despite knowing it would probably get me a few more wins) and I know how to do it but choose not to because to me it's not football.

I just find it so boring to play against especially knowing the jam is going to go in their favour in the game at least once from the skill spam no matter how well I defend.

Tap Y in your half, simple little pass. Tap Y edge of the box/final pass, SO MUCH POWER.

    Posted: 12 Apr 2021 01:05 PM PDT

Same pass, same power, same players. Apparently when you're 30 yards from your opponent's goal it's a different, hugely overhit pass that magically finds it's way to the GK?

PSA: Golden Goal is a courtesy, not a right.

    Posted: 12 Apr 2021 01:48 AM PDT

Tired of kids pausing for me if they score first, then telling me to leave. I will happily partake in golden goal, but don't pause for me or tell me what to do, otherwise I intend on playing the whole match. Hell you score on me with a BL team, I won't pause, but will give you an open longshot, free, then happily leave.

Please wait and let your opponent pause, you aren't entitled to anything you want, and a little patience pays dividends.

The company should not get away with what they did to passing.

    Posted: 12 Apr 2021 08:19 AM PDT

It's disgraceful and disrespectful. It was a very known fact that build up play was one of the most important factors to make or break a game in FIFA 21. And EA knew that. To remove passing from being an integral part of the game, shows the ulterior motive was to keep the skill gap as low as possible. Every press of the pass button is a RNG fest. It's crazy how the easy and straight passes without any pressure are slowed down to make way for interceptions. Or just simply misdirected. A football game where you are not allowed fucking pass.

People complain about others using fullbacks at CB, yet they use wingers as strikers

    Posted: 12 Apr 2021 07:27 AM PDT

Im not here criticizing anyone, i dont see any problem in doing both. But i never see people complain about using Neymar, Rashford, El Shaarawy, Son, etc as strikers, but as soon that theres a Mendy, Bender, Walker, etc at CB they lose their minds on how the meta is shit, and that EA needs to fix the game. The FB to CB meta is mostly caused BY people using pacy wingers as ST, and NOT the other way around. And since FB are mostly faster than CB its the only way to counter it.

Market Manipulations By Famous FIFA YouTubers

    Posted: 12 Apr 2021 06:49 PM PDT

If the manipulation of market is forbidden in real life, there is a reason. It is too easy for an influent person to profit by influencing people. I think it also should be for big youtubers with influence that makes millions by just influencing their communities to buy a precise card to make profit.

I'm writing that because Nick (RTFM) just said to buy Roberto Carlos Moments to his community because the card had dropped to 1.4mill and Nick was loosing massive coins, and an hour after the release of his video, the card rise to 1.65mill (the card is also #1 popular on Futbin). I would like to hear your thoughts about this, It is only my opinion so it could be false.

    Directional nutmeg should be nerfed

    Posted: 12 Apr 2021 07:23 PM PDT

Why? Simply because the defender cuts the ball but the attacker still remains with possesion, it's so stupid and buggy ffs

    ”Easter eggs” in FIFA 21

    Posted: 12 Apr 2021 02:11 PM PDT

Does anyone have any like small things you barely notice or "easter eggs" in game? Like in FIFA 13 the Sounders crowd would boo when Mullan had the ball if u played Sounders-Rapids. (google if u don't know)

I noticed that two people in the Brighton crowd shouts "SEEAAAGUUULLS!!" randomly during home games, never noticed until a few days ago when the rest of the stadium was silent.

    Why I like Weekend League

    Posted: 12 Apr 2021 06:28 AM PDT

I've played fifa for 4 or 5 years now and didn't qualify for weekend league until they changed the system from knockouts, since then I've kept improving as a player and I now manage to finish gold 1 most weekends that I decide to play and I'm pushing for my first elite 3 finish before the end of this fifa.

I know that the game is bullshit a lot and not really fair half the time, but I really just try and focus on what I can control in the game and that way I really enjoy it.

I know the rewards are often average (until tots) but that's not really the reason I play wl, it's to try and improve and show myself how well I can play

Anyway I know not many people will care about this but with a lot of negativity that comes on this sub I just wanted to share my view, thanks for reading if you're down the bottom here

WL recap 15-8 + player reviews

    Posted: 12 Apr 2021 02:23 PM PDT

So I played my 4th WL this year, I got lucky with 81+ PP and got some Fut Birthdays and the Moments Icon pack gave me an 1,5mil+ player, so I was pretty excited! The goal was to reach 15 wins as fast as possible and see from there.

    My team + WL tracker

I had a work free week, so I was able to play 12 games on Friday.. first time ever and also the last time ever. Bad idea, really bad idea 7-5

Saturday and Sunday went amazing ending 15-8. Decided to play some games towards Samba Stars instead of sweating towards Gold 2, cause the coming TOTW doesn't seem to become something special.

    Formations

Most games I played 4312 with fullbacks on balanced and press after possession loss + long ball.
If I felt that I got dominated on the wings or want to slow down the play, I changed to 442, press after heavy touch and balanced.
And when I was getting totally dominated I changed to 442(2) balanced and long ball, with the wingers on come back on defense.

    Player reviews.

GK Ter Stegen (23games, 3 clean sheats) 9,5/10
Used Neuer during the week in Rivals but Ter Stegen is Miles better in this game, did his job and even more.

    RB Prime Lahm (23 games, 0G/0A) 7/10
Disappointed, he was great in Rivals (division 2), yet In WL he was the weak link in the team. Made a couple amazing interceptions but did not do a lot going forward like he did in Rivals (50 games, 3G, 14A). Got subbed out for WIF Mbabu most games.

RCB Storyline De Sciglio (23 games, 0G/0A) 10/10
The fullback META is real, I don't like it but he's necessary to stop Neymar and Mbappe in this game. Amazing player always in the good position, decent strength and fast.

    LCB Moments Boateng (23 games, 0G/0A) 8/10
80 pace, the man has 80 pace, yet he's to volnurable on counter to play every game 90 minutes.. positioning, strength and passing are amazing! When I face to many counters I sub on Klaiber for him.

    LB RTTF Davies (23 games 0G/4A) 9,5/10
Meep Meep, he's just so fast and pretty strong. please Bayern win from PSG tomorrow I really want another upgrade to improve the stamina so he can run more as 90minutes up and down the line.

Defensive CM Fut Birthday Vidal (23 games, 1G/3A) 9/10
Some might say he's wasted as an defensive CM. I don't agree, he's the 6 of the team, the distributor, collecting balls, starting up attacks. Love him, worth every penny.

    RM/CM Fut Birthday Atal (23 games, 3G/6A) 8,5/10
I expected a bit more from his stats, his passing was off sometimes and his strength is a bit low. But he covered the wing perfectly when my RB went forward, might deserve an 9/10.

    LM/CM Future Star Kulusevski (23 games, 7G/8A) 9,5/10
The only tradeable player but the biggest surprise of the team, I just bought him to get CR7 on 10 chem in this team but oh man did he shine! He has everything, he even feels like 75+ defending, the only negative is that he doesn't feel as nimble as Atal going forward, but that's the only negative.

    Attacking CM/CAM Fut Birthday Aouar (23 games, 17G/6A) 9,5/10
If he doesn't score or assist he's always the guy that makes the pre assist. The true maestro of the team. Always running in space, shooting perfect, defending decent enough. Only his stamina is a bit on the low side, so he was the attacking player that got subbed when I needed to in the second half.

    RST Moment Stoichkov (23 games, 29G/20A) 10/10
The leader, the fighter, the man who brought the fire in the team. He won me games, you might see that 3* WF and see that 1,6 million price tag and think, that's not worth it. Oh well the man is a god. He can bang them on both feet, he's super fast and very strong. Best player on the team by a mile, can not think of a day I would put this man on the bench this year.

    LST CR7 (23 games, 19G/26A) 9,5/10
CR7 with more assists as goals, Before this WL I would never thought this would happen. You know him. He's amazing only a bit weak sometimes.

    Subs

    RB WIF Mbabu (11 games, 3G/0A) 9,5/10
3 goals as an RB sub 3 goals!!! AMAZING sub. He dominated the wing when he got subbed on, defensive and attacking.

    CB Showdown Klaiber (8 games, 0G/0A) 9/10
I like Klaiber a bit more as an CB compared to Mbabu, I find his positioning a bit better. If Boateng feels to slow he got subbed on, fullback META, I don't like it, but you can not stop Mbappe with an 80 pace Boateng.

    ST/RM Fut Birthday Inaki (8 games, 4G/2A) 8,5/10
He get subbed on for Aouar if I need an goal in the last 20 minutes, putting Stoichkov at CAM of putting Atal at CM. Is he an upgrade for the attacking compartiment ? No. Is he fast and strong ? Yes. Did he win me games ? Only a few. Just let him run!

    LB WIF Reguilon (4 games, 0G/0A) 8/10
He got subbed on if I played the whole game with Davies on balanced and I didn't need Klaiber or Inaki. Defensive he does the job, attacking it's an downgrade compared to Davies.

Defensive CM RTTF Sissoko (1 game, 0G/0A) 4/10
Subbed him on once for Atal when I was 5-0 up in a game, so Vidal could attack.. the game ended 7-6. Massive downgrade compared to Vidal. I like him as an starter, but as an super sub he went totally missing.

Managerial Masterpiece has been my favorite game mode

    Posted: 12 Apr 2021 11:52 AM PDT

I know it's got it's problems, but in the end, I love it. I love the squad restriction, and having to choose between 1-2 top players and the rest kinda jank, or building a well-rounded squad of low 80s rated players.

I love finding diamonds in the rough, and not feeling bad at all if i lose, or even if I get schooled. It's been a real savior for me, keeping me interested in the game when some of the other game modes frustrate me.

Not playing WL until EA fix this

    Posted: 12 Apr 2021 12:22 AM PDT

So I play my games late at night because I'm busy during the day. This weekend the situation I was in was a 21-7 record with about an hour and a half left. I know I should play my games earlier but as I said I have things to do during the day so I play as many as I can at night throughout the weekend. So i'm chasing elite with 90 minutes left.

I load into a game and its close throughout. Im down 3-2 in the 88th minute when suddenly im through on goal, the guy takes a red card which is a problem in itself but smart on his part. However I put the free kick top bins to make it 3-3 and then he literally turns off his xbox. Game counts as nothing for me and a loss for him.

Of course im triggered but after calming down I win my next game so now I'm 22-7 and there is about 8 minutes left in weekend league. I log into the game and concede early. I then battle back and score an equalizer in the 55th minute which is followed by my opponent again turning off his xbox. The clock is a minute past the quene deadline so 12:01 PST and now I'm stuck in gold 1 with 1 game left even though my opponents quit out of 2 games with the score tied.

Why after playing fifa since 2012, and having weekend league since 2017 have they not figured out to just give a win to the person still in the game and a loss to the person who quits. Its the second time this situation has happened to me and I know people will say play earlier so that wont happen but that shouldn't need to be the solution.

This community is so toxic and immature that people go out of there way to ruin there opponents day it's horrible and EA fuel the fire. If weekend league is supposed to be a competitive game mode, this cannot happen. Frankly it's a joke and the fact that they haven't addressed this issue yet over all these years is pathetic.

As a community we as fifa players need to do better and as a company EA need to wake up and quit letting people bend the rules in whats supposed to be competitive fifa.

What a waste of a weekend.

TEAM USA WEEKEND LEAGUE RECAP RETURNS WITH NEW FRIENDS

    Posted: 12 Apr 2021 01:57 PM PDT

Here we are with your favorite dose of FIFA freedom, back after a few weeks' hiatus. We are bringing a full-USA-except-GK-because-I-don't-hate-myself team to Elite 3. That is the mission because America could use a win, if we're being honest. This was my first time playing more than 8ish games of weekend league in a bit, and despite some meh results, I quite enjoyed myself. I finished 11-5 with 41 scored against 22 conceded. Average possession 66%, forced 4 rage quits and held 3 shutouts.

The main challenge was playing 10 games Friday. I had some brutal matchmaking, including playing the same guy in 2 of 3 matches despite being located in a major city and losing both by only a goal. That was the first time I dropped 3 consecutive games all year. But as I've mentioned in prior posts, I need more reps against higher quality competition. I played the rest Sunday, where 4 of 5 opponents were so overwhelmed with the feelings of freedom that they just quit early.

THE NEW AND IMPROVED TEAM FREEDOM, FEATURING AN EVOLVING PLAYSTYLE.

Squad in base formation here. Some big changes since our last recap with a reinvented right side. We've got Joseph-Claude "HOW NOW BROWN" Gyau at RM, with IF Sebastian "TOO LLETGET TO QUIT" sliding in at our balanced CDM slot.

We always start in 4-2-3-1 to get used to the game, get a sense of opponent formation, and see if they're weak at defending the endline. This is a possession driven system that tries to force overloads on the wing and cut back. If we get a lead, we usually stay in this one until 3-0, where it's 5-3-2 practice time.

If it's a defensive struggle or the guy is too aggressive defensively, we'll switch to 4-4-2 and try to play more direct 1-2s with the strikers (Puli and Reyna). I'll switch this to constant press in the 60th minute if I need a goal, with Lletget on get forward.

If I noticed he's playing a very narrow formation or if I'm up 3 and want to practice, I go to the 5-3-2 with overlapping fullbacks. McKennie slides back to CB here. Lletget isn't as great defensively as Adams, so I will sometimes sub in Yedlin and play him at CB with McKennie in the central CM role.

    PLAYER REVIEWS

WIF Timothy "HEART ATTACK" Weah – 7G/2A. First, shout out to LOSC for scoring 4 of the 6 goals needed in the 85' plus. Really cutting it close there, those fightin' baguettes. But they upgraded my boy, and will hopefully become the most distinguished champion of France since Eisenhower. And just like Ike, Timo loves to go on the offensive, trading spaces with Pulisic and making lateral runs off the endline to set up goals. He had a hat trick in a Sunday game, which rarely happens from the wing for me.

Joseph-Claude "HOW NOW BROWN" Gyau – 4G/5A. He's replacing Tyler "BANGERZ" Boyd, who will hopefully be getting an IF himself this week. Gyau is rapid and does great at getting in behind. His lack of 4-star skills is noticeable and I'm still getting used to him, but I'm having an easier time creating space and getting in behind with this lad. I look to pass first with him and don't do as many directed runs as I do with Weah, which is slowing his production.

IF Sebastian "TOO LLETGET TO QUIT" – 4G/9A. Old Sebas brought a wave down on one opponent, getting a hat trick in his first weekend league. He is definitely more offensive than Adams, who he replaced, racking up the second most assists in the squad behind Pulisic. We give up something in defense, but I'm really enjoying having another 4-star skiller who can *comparatively* pass and shoot. Need more games before I'll be used to playing with him, but we'll get there.

Wes "PARTY BOY" McKennie – OG/2A. Wes is really struggling against all these upgraded birthday midfielders. His 68 composure becomes pretty apparent several times a game, with the occasional misplaced pass making it possible for my opponent to get a counter going and score. He's been playing great for Juve, so hopefully he'll get an IF soon.

    AREAS TO IMPROVE

Beating narrow formations. I continue to struggle pretty hard against 41212. The 532 is helping, but even against meh players I'm struggling to score. Results against that formation 2-1, 0-1, 2-1 (ET), 0-2. My objective is to score 3 a game, so averaging 1 a game against any formation won't cut it. Switching myself to a 5-3-2 helps create space, but I get real jammed in the middle on the end and get overwhelmed with third man runs on the defensive side. I'm working on adding this formation to my own game in managerial masterpiece.

Getting into the final third. I play very patient and my pass % is always over 90, but I'm struggling to spend enough time beyond the opposition's blue line, as they say on ice. I'm working on adding more L1 runs to create space, and using 1-2s on the wings to get in behind. I'm also using more driven passes to pick up speed. This is only a problem against better players

Pressing formations and forcing RQs. RQs save mental energy and a strong press gets the opponent rattled enough to quit (in addition to scoring). I am hesitant to go higher depth unless I'm losing because Opara and Long can't hang with Neybappe, but I am decent at pressing and it's important to have as a change of pace tactic and a way to dispatch of worse players faster.

Keep working on skills. I've been building in more canceled berbas and I've got a solid croqueta cancel, but I just don't use it enough. I also am decent at the directional nutmeg, but am not using that anywhere near enough. This is frustrating cause I hop off weekend league and into managerial masterpiece and I'm absolutely carving guys up.

I'll be back next week with hopefully an improved squad - WIF+ Weah? IF McKennie? Dike silver stars?

Don't do it for me, EA. Do it for Uncle Sam.
