The 30 game limit in rivals is a huge problem, and here's why. Posted: 12 Oct 2020 10:10 AM PDT I am currently a Division 1 player, at 1937 skill rating. That's about the highest I've been, but haven't yet come close to dropping into D2. I typically lose a couple, win a couple, draw one, win one - so on and so forth. I am not good enough to regularly compete with players at 2k + rating. I am too good for the players at 1800-1850 rating. Therefore I will pretty much always stay at this low D1 level. Absolutely no problem with that - that's my skill level and that's fine. The problem comes when you start limiting how much I can grind my rank. I will never get D1 rank 1 with the current system, because I don't win enough games in D1. For reference, I have played 24 games this week. I have 12k points and am at rank 3. Rank 2 is 13600 currently. Rank 1 is currently 16300. Let's say I get Rank 2 this week. Here are my reward choices;
Let's compare that with Division 4, Rank 1...
More coins, better packs for getting rank 1, 3 whole divisions below. Where is my incentive to stay in Division 1 for next week? Why shouldn't I finish my 30 games this week, and then demote myself to D4 for next week, where I can cruise to rank 1 without breaking a sweat? Rewards need to be seriously buffed for the higher divisions, otherwise we're going to see self-relegating even more than last year. That's without even mentioning the impact of rage quits. If someone quits while the game is tied, you get a token 300 points, when you could've trebled that from winning the game. If you're comfortably beating a guy 2-0 after 10 mins, and they quit, you lose your chance at another 270 points for more goals. There are just so many flaws with the new system. I'm sure some of you won't agree and will see this as a higher ranked player bitching, but why should I sit through 30 games against some of the best players on the game, only to get less rewards than I could just by smashing people who aren't as good as me? Also, unconfirmed, but I have a feeling that Live FUT friendlies has skill-based matchmaking. Every single one I've played has felt like a Division 1 match. If that's the case, again, why would I want to stay in Division 1? [link] [comments] |
Player Instructions Explained! Posted: 12 Oct 2020 09:31 AM PDT Hello! There was a lot of love for my custom tactics guide the other day – so I've gone through player instructions again this year to help you make your tactical set up decisions a bit easier. Streamable Link for the visual learners. The first thing to consider is that player instructions will almost always override your custom tactics. I think of it in the following way – the custom tactics provide the framework for the general shape of your team – and player instructions influence the individual characteristics of how your players move off the ball. I've left out some settings because I either couldn't find any difference – or because they're so obvious just from reading them. Furthermore – balanced settings are left out – usually they are a combination of all of the settings, though if you've been playing with them on for all this time, you'll probably understand how they work. FULLBACKSAttacking Runs Attacking runs effect how involved your fullbacks get when attacking. Join Attack – On this setting your full backs will be up within 20 yards of your wingers and will often show for a pass or make runs past your winger when they hold the ball up. Stay Back – Whereas on stay back, your fullbacks will do exactly that! They will stay in their shape and not concern themselves with attacking – holding their line with your centre backs. Run Types Run types effect the width of your fullbacks runs when they get involved with the attack. This generally will only come into affect when you have your attacking runs on balanced and join attack. Inverted – Inverted runs will mean your full backs will make runs on the inside of your wingers – generally between their full back and their centre back. Overlap – On the other hand, overlap means your full backs will get on the outside of your winger and hug the touchline. Centre BacksAttacking Runs I didn't exactly find much in the way of attacking runs for centre backs. I tried for 3 or 4 games to find out what 'play as a striker' does, but to no avail. Join Attack – However I did find that for join attack your centre backs will step up infront of the attackers to receive a pass when you get into the opposition half. Centre Defensive Midfielders (CDM)Defensive Behaviour This effects how which side of the attacker your CDM's will defend on. Man Mark – On this setting your CDM's will be goal side of the attackers – meaning they allow a pass into them, but will be hassling them when they turn. Cut Passing Lanes – On this setting your CDM's will try to defend infront of the attacker and deny a pass into them, however if they do succeed you wont be close by and they may have space to exploit. Attacking Support Attacking support controls how much your CDM's get involved with the attack Stay Back – On this setting your CDM's will stay behind the ball when you're attacking and will be there to stop a counterattack. Drop Between CB's – On this setting your CMD will sit between two centrebacks who spread wider as a result. If you have two CDM's on this setting, only one of them will sit between the CB's and the other one will remain in a normal role infront of the defence in the usual CDM spot. Get Forward – Obviously on this setting your central defensive mids will play higher up the pitch and will be happy to get in the box and make runs that your forwards usually would. Central MidfieldersObviously all of the previous CDM settings will also be the same for CM's where applicable. Positional Freedom This essentially affects what positions your players will take up going forwards. Whilst stick to position obviously means they will keep their usual shape. Free Roam – This essentially means your CM's will take up whatever position they fancy. Whether that be further forward than usual, or wider than their usual central position. Central Attacking MidfieldersPositional Freedom Drift Wide – This means your CAM will drift out wide – generally taking up the space between the centre back and the full back. Free Roam – again this is similar to the CM – your CAM will take up both wide and central positions – and may play further forward than usual. Defensive Support This obviously effects how willing your CAM will be to get involved defensively. Stay Forward – This means your CAM will make no effort whatsoever to defend and will happily just sit on the half way line. Come Back – This should mean that your CAM gets involved defensively but what I found was it means that they just drop a bit deeper when you defend, not really getting involved with the defending. Wide MidfieldersDefensive Support This affects how much your wide players will be willing to get involved in defending Stay Forward – Again, your wingers will stay high and wide on the pitch waiting for you to counter attack Come Back – Once again they will make a token effort to come back but wont get involved in the nitty gritty of defending. Chance Creation This effects the width of your wide midfielders attacking runs Cut Inside – this is similar to inverted runs for full backs. Your wingers will try to make diagonal runs inside the full back and centre backs. Stay Wide – This means your wingers will hug the touchline and hope to get on the outside of the full back. Support Runs This effects how your wingers will show for the ball in the build-up phase of play. Come Short – This means your wingers will peel of his marker and will offer a short option for the ball Target Man – This means your wingers will play on the full back with their back to goal and look to hold off the marker. Get in Behind – this obviously means they'll play on the shoulder of the attacker and will look to get in behind the defence. StrikersSupport Runs This generally effects how wide your striker will play. Stay Central – this is pretty self-explanatory – your striker will hold his position in the middle of the pitch like a traditional striker who plays between the goalposts. Drift Wide – your striker will happily move into wider areas – outside the edges of the box. Attacking Runs This affects your strikers runs off the ball when you're not controlling them. Target Man – This, like your wingers, means they'll sit with their back to goal looking to hold off the defender. Get in Behind – Again, this means your strikers will sit on the shoulder looking to get in behind. False Nine – This means your striker will drop deeper – often into the positions of a traditional CAM looking to help with link up play. InterceptionsI'll finish with interceptions which effect all of your players over the pitch On aggressive your players will stick tighter to the attacker and will often try to cut the ball out when passed in – this can help you win the ball back faster but also can leave you exposed with a quick one two On conservative your players will step off the attackers and make no attempt to intercept the ball. And there we go! I hope you enjoyed it! If you have any questions about it – please let me know! [link] [comments] |
The Battle For Pride Rock Has Begun Posted: 12 Oct 2020 02:17 PM PDT |
Posted: 12 Oct 2020 05:48 AM PDT From Monday-Friday I would play 1 game of Legendary SB each day, it was a quick pleasant way to de-stress and reset. Each week I'd set up a new 10k team built around whichever WL red in-forms that had been added to the club. It was an enjoyable little routine, one which I most likely won't experience this year. The new Squad Battles gameplay has completely put me off of the mode. It's not challenging, it's not fun, and it's not rewarding. It's just frustrating. In every single match there's a block of 10 uninterruptible minutes devoted to bronze 1-star skiller Taekwondinho trying to impress the futsal scouts in attendance. I don't play any Rivals throughout the week, I just take the free rewards from the 12k FUT Champs points. It was only FUT Champs and Squad Battles for me. EA had me hooked to have a reason to login to their game 7 days a week for 7 months. With this change, they've cut that down to less than half. Sorry for the coolstorybro, I just needed to type out how I felt. [link] [comments] |

Posted: 12 Oct 2020 02:32 PM PDT With two games left to get rivals points I just had an opponent disconnect in the first 10 minutes. I was peppering them with shots and really should have scored. I had 300 points given and a game gone instead. 300 points is better than nothing for sure, but it seems ridiculous that they still count that against your 30 games. There would have easily been goals in that game and I'm confident I could have gotten more points than that. [link] [comments] |

Extensive guide to using 352 (D1) Posted: 12 Oct 2020 02:49 PM PDT My guide to using 352 in FIFA 21 Recently i put together a short post about 352, and why it such a good option this year. It was not very detailed though, and a lot of people showed interest, so here is a detailed walkthrough of my tactics, instructions and the types of players you will need. My defensive tactics My offensive tactics While you want the formation to be narrow when defending, you have switch around when attacking, and that is why i have width at 6. With the players i use, my strongest players offensively are in the middle, but having the option to spread the ball wide, when you can't find a way through is very beneficial. As crossing is also way better in FIFA 21, you wingers can and will get lots of goal contributions. I have corners and free kicks at 2, simply because counters are so deadly this year. In the beginning i had them higher, but i was getting countered time after time, so i just don't see the point in taking that risk, and you can still easily score from corners and free kicks, even when they are at 2. Instructions GK: Come for crosses and sweeper CB's: No changes CDM's: Cut passing lanes, stay back while attacking, cover center. I have changed these 3 instructions on both my CDM's. You always want them to be cutting passing lanes, gives you a better chance of intercepting the ball. I also prefer them both to stay back while attacking. This does depend on the workrates your players have though. If they're both med/high, you could just leave one on balanced. In my case one of the CDM's is high/high, and even with this instruction he will join the attack sometimes, which is fine, but i don't want him doing it every attack. You won't run out of offensive options either, when they're both staying back. Lastly you wan't them both to cover center, as you have your wingers and wide CB's covering the flanks. LM and RM: Come back on defense, stay wide and get in the box crosses. Your wingers have to come back on defense, otherwise you will be exposed defensively time after time, it is a must. You also want them to stay wide, otherwise they aren't to a lot of use offensively. Their presence is so important when trying to initiate an attack. It is also SUPER important, that they get into the box for crosses. I have tested, when this instruction wasn't on, and the difference is remarkable. Whenever you have lots of open space on either wing, the opposite winger will literally run like a mad man to get into the box, and it can easily turn into a huge chance if you swing in the right cross. I have seen some people, that like their wingers to get in behind, but i wouldn't recommend it, since your wingers can get caught very high up the pitch, if you lose possession. CAM: Stay on the edge of the box for crosses ST's: Stay forward, RS on get in behind Player roles Wide CB's: Left CDM: LM and RM: CAM: Right striker: Those were my thoughts and experiences so far with the 352. It is a very good formation this FIFA that provides you some exciting and different gameplay. Feel free to ask questions. :) [link] [comments] |

The subtop of fifa 1700-2100 skill rating will loose their interest quite soon and here is imo why Posted: 12 Oct 2020 04:18 PM PDT I am currently sitting at 2070 skill rating and I was just done with rivals. Running over and over into van dijk and getting countered by mbappe just is tiresome. So I decided to do the live fut friendly. I proceeded to win 2 out of 10, all my opponents knew how to defend, did the double akka skill move and we're genuinely good opponents. However when I play friendlies against my friends, or watch with them through shareplay, they or their opponents serverly lack any of the above mentioned skills and made not thought trough plays. (Div 3-5) Now it would have been possible that I was matched with similar leveled players by accident but since only the top 5% of the player base it at the above mentioned skill level it seems mathematically near to impossible. Now to advocate for there being a sbmm system in fifa. After losing 5 times in a row in friendlies I all of a sudden came across people who really just started learning the game for 3 times in a row, afterwards I stopped playing since I finished the objective. Draft is the same song all over again. I understand that people in div 6 don't want to play against div 1 level players in draft, but we have litteraly 0 casual modes to play now. I would love to drink a beer and chill and play a bit of draft and have fun with friends while doing so. But litteraly every opponent I come across has been or is a top 100 player ( googled their names after playing them, 7 out of 10 had futwiz page). This results in that the whole game turns into one big fucking sweatfest and I'm feeling pushed towards self relegating just for playing a casual game, not even for the rewards incentive, which i find extremely sad for the poor guy/girl who I have to play in div 5 because then I will ruin his or hers game experience. I strongly believe that the top 3-10% has been pushed in a terrible predicament and has to choose the lesser of 2 evils 1 week after fifa came out to actually enjoy the game. Thanks for reading my essay [link] [comments] |
Posted: 12 Oct 2020 01:45 PM PDT I'm not a high division player but I've been building my team around crossing so I've picked up a few things that might be useful since heading is good again.
Feel free to share your crossing tips! [link] [comments] |
People complaining about defending and not being able to defend to save their lives? Posted: 12 Oct 2020 03:59 AM PDT I was watching a few Youtubers including Mark Goldbridge play and bash FIFA 21 in regards to player defending and how it compares to last year. What I hate is that some of those Youtubers seem to have no idea how to actually defend. They constantly manually pull defenders out of position to try and tackle leaving miles of space for the opponent to slip through, and then they bash the game to high heaven for being terrible. Surely you'd want to have a good understanding of the game or even football itself, before you unleash your opinion to your audience, especially if you have 240k subscribers. A lot of them don't even seem to utilise player instructions. [link] [comments] |

But I'd love me some co op WL to lower the stress and have fun on the way . Loses will be bitter - sweet, share the desperation with a friend 🤷🏻♂️ Edit: making co-op special tournaments can be cool too. Co - op drafts, co op everything lol [link] [comments] |
