PSA: Nobody knows what the European Super League means for the FIFA game series

    Posted: 18 Apr 2021 05:01 PM PDT

The ESL announcement is hours old at this point - we don't even know the full line-up of clubs yet.

It's an unprecedented event in modern times and nobody has even the slightest idea how it might impact a video game series moving forward. Your guess is as good as the next person's at this point.

Tip: Do the first two squads on every icon sbc and save the packs for TOTS

    Posted: 18 Apr 2021 01:16 PM PDT

These packs cost next to nothing and are easily done using bronzes and silvers already in your club (or buying them for very cheap off the market).

These will give you tons of silver packs, and during tots there will be silver players who have a tots that will replace their silver item in packs.

On the off chance you get one of these players, you can make a lot of profit by selling them before their price can drop.

It's not a huge cheat code, but who doesn't like opening packs?

    Learning skillmoves is satysfying.

    Posted: 18 Apr 2021 09:56 AM PDT

Fifa 21 is first fifa i play serious so i am not much good at the game (g3/2). I like watching some good players like Ovvy and Boras and i am always like.. wow... when they do skills and drible at oponent box. I know only fake shot, ball roll and that skill when u turn around...i think Zidane was making that skill often :D oh and croqueta even if i fail it 50/50 times. Months ago i tried to learn elastico and was like... not its too hard. This week i made Pirlo sbc and packed Okocha (thought its lose but no... i like him actualy). So i have 4 5star skillers in team, i told myself i should start use this advantage. I played only SBs this week and practicing elastico. Today i played rivals and... yessss!!! I sucesfully made few elasticos and actualy scores few coz of this or made some good chances. Now i will work on scoop i think, i need something so i can turn fast in box. I know most of you master skill moves and i look like clown but i am actualy happy. I was never fan of skillmoves but i feel like i need them to create goal chances which i lack. And no i dont do them in the middle of the pitch for fun :D

G2 WL, icon reviews from someone with way more coins than skill.

    Posted: 18 Apr 2021 07:39 PM PDT

    Infographic

    Team, 4222 in game

    Hello guys,

Decided to do some reviews for the players in my team..

As per title, I am mediocre at the game with my highest finish being G1 twice, mostly finishing G3 with some games to spare. I prefer to trade and spend coins on players that are not necessarily worth it, but for me.. icons > other cards because of sentimental value and uniqueness.

    94 Ronaldo: R ST (34G, 23A)

Very fast, agile, strong, glitchy player. His shots can break the net. Clutched quite a few games for me, but the finishing can sometimes be a bit off. I haven't really noticed what people are complaining about - the fact he tends to disappear from the games. No issues with balance either. He was constantly on the ball, getting involved in play. Passing is not ideal, more like a hit or miss. Managed a few of those.. 'holy shit I didn't even want to do that pass, but what an assist that was..'. Easy to notice his pace drop towards the end of the game, needs replacing 60-70min into the game unless ahead and comfortable. I would say.. nice to try him, but not worth the coins. 9/10

    94 Ronaldinho: L ST (33G, 21A)

Second WL with my all time favourite player. Silkiest player I've ever used. His left stick dribbling is like an angel touching you seductively. He often glides through defenders, dropping a shoulder and skipping past them, unique animations everywhere. There's no describing the things he does, and that's only a bit biased. Even faster than R9 in my opinion, skills are rapid, passing is immense, ponytail is waving. Nothing else to ask for. 10/10

    96 POTM Messi R CAM (8G, 11A)

Let me preface that playing 4-2-2-2 is all nice and fancy, but getting CAMs to do anything offensive is a pain. There's 0 attacking AI and it shows. Even this Messi can't break this barrier and I am rating him based on this position only. I think he plays very close to the real life Messi, sits deeper, can dribble through a few guys and play a decent pass. But even if you hold R1 he will only go forward a bit and then when you play a through ball he decides to stop more often than not resulting in the ball going nowhere. His 99 passing stats are a complete lie IMO, as I felt really uncomfortable playing risky passes with him. His finesse shots were okay, he has the whip and can place the ball nicely into the corners. He's swift with the stick, but can't compare with Dinho. I think he ended up being subbed out in more games than he finished for me. I completed him knowing he will only play CAM, and judging by how he plays.. I wish I didn't do him. 5/10

    90 Gullit L CDM (6G, 7A)

2nd year with the mop in my team. I have not used Vieira or Desailly or Blanc so cannot compare the big tanks, but jesus christ.. He is everywhere. You can lose the ball in the enemy's third and then recover the ball in your penalty with him and he will still have stamina to go back forward. Pings passes with either foot, defends with his 2 metre long legs in whatever way you want, finesses shots from outside the box. There is just no replacing him. If you can afford him, he should be in your team. 10/10

    92 Roberto Carlos LB (1G, 2A)

Both the LB and RB rarely go forward for me, because my defensive skills are meh and I'd rather have 4 defending than 2 to maximize my chances. Hard to review this guy properly, as he is 80% wasted in the role I play him in. He is fast, that's for sure. Never misplaced a ball from build-up, you can easily Xavi the balls to any part of the pitch. I don't recall him making any major mistakes defensively, just one or two small hiccups. The two assists came from absolute torpedoes from the wing with his left foot straight into R9. The goal? Casual outside the box finesse. Attempted a few outside foot free kicks from like 30 metres for a laugh - all on target. Would probably play him LM, LW or CM if there was space. 9/10

    92 Lahm RB (0G, 1A)

Same as above, although worse offensive stats than RC, I did not really test his stats properly. I believe out of about 5 crosses, 5 went into the keeper. Did not matter if I crossed early or standing still next to the corner flag, they were not accurate. Passing was fine, felt pretty comfortable with distributing the ball. I took him instead of Zambrotta, as I thought the height difference will be beneficial in how he dribbles. That was true, he is fast when turning and all that, however the lack of height did cost me a goal and a game, as he got outjumped a few times. Defensively.. he does what you expect him to, but don't count on him shoving anybody out of the way. 7/10

    92 Maldini CB (0G, 0A)

Can't compare with any other big guns in the CB position, as he is the only expensive one I've used. Does what you would expect, no mistakes, wins headers, pushes strikers to the side. Might have an issue catching up to faster players, but if you track the run, he will stick to them. Very solid choice. 9/10

96 De Bruyne (Bench -> CAM)

There's a reason why a TOTY is on the bench. As bad as it sounds, I wish I packed any other one. I really tried to fit him in many main teams - ST/CAM/CM/CDM. He just does not play up to his stats. Any of the face stats. His shooting is inconsistent, can whip an absolute screamer to then miss 3 easy shots. Passing is similar to Messi I suppose.. for the most part okay, but don't be surprised if he gives it to the other team. Pace, even with a boosting chem style is not impressive either. 5/10

    • I am not going to post one for Robben or Vidal, as they're both expired, and there's plenty of reviews already.

Hope you enjoyed the read! Cannot wait for the next weekend where I choke G1 again :)

Retiring CR7 the legend, finished this WL with his 1000th match. Full team review + custom tactics.

    Posted: 18 Apr 2021 09:11 PM PDT

To Preface: I'm a (very lucky) Gold 1, 1940-2040 SR player. Never elite. Sometimes I'll even choke gold 1. This week I got another painful 22-8 with my 8th loss coming during my 3rd to last game. Only played the last 2 for the extra pick.

The Man himself. Luckiest pull in any fifa.

As for the team, this is the squad (and it's various formations)

4231 Wide for starting matches/seeing them out. Custom Tactics for this are fairly well, balanced. Player instructions are all default except for Makelele who is on stay back/cover center and Paulinho on cover center. Balanced fullbacks are the way to go

352 when I want to commit men forward or if I go a goal behind. Custom Tactics. Player instructions are stay forward for CAM, come back on defense for the wide mids, cover center on CDMs (no stay back if one CDM has lower att than def. work rates).

4 4 facking 2 the aids formation. The "I'm 2 goals behind" formation. the aids pressing. I'm sorry to anyone who I had to use this on, props to anyone who made me look even worse when I switched to this. Strikers stay central, 1 wide mid track back, 1 cm stay back, both cover center. Balanced fullbacks always.

    Player Reviews/Ratings

1IF CR7: Absolutely broken when he came out. Now, he's not exactly behind the power curve but not really ahead either. Still, unless you have a cracked defense, CR7 is just gonna glide with ease and score with both feet. An obvious 10/10. Balance stat is a lie.

Base Cruyff: At first I couldn't get on with this card. Had a hunter on him. Wrong. He's a CF/CAM, needs the passing boost. With that, he is the complete forward. 55, excellent shooting, excellent passing, excellent dribbling and just enough pace. A tiny bit weak but strength is not all that useful in this game imo. 9/10 as I actually can notice the balance stat on this card. Will sometimes take shots straight at the keeper or wide due to being off balance.

Prime Kaka: just pulled him from the Prime SBC, can't speak as to how he played earlier in the cycle. Gave him a hawk and his strength is a nice change, but as mentioned earlier, not that meta. Amazing in good gameplay, struggles in delay. Finishing is a bit off, but shot power is lethal. Curved longshots are beautiful, scores from any angle. 7.5/10

Moments Dybala: what a card. Messi but 3star weak foot. If you let him cut inside into space, he will score a curler no doubt. Excellent finishing and can dribble in the worst of gameplay. Weak foot is the only let down for this card, as even pace gets close to maxed out with a hunter. Not to mention how cheap his sbc was. 8/10 would be 9 but his right foot can be a real letdown during crucial moments

FBD Paulinho: what a fucking steal. Luckily, i can fit him easily with all the icons I have, but even in 8 chem he'd get the job done beautifully. There's literally nothing he can't do. The complete midfielder. He reminds me of TOTY kimmich but with better work rates and weak foot. Way better than FBD Thiago. Easy 10/10 not many better cards at this position.

Prime Makelele: got him from the icon PP. people say he's like kante but icon links. Eh, not really. I never got on with kante. Makelele suits a passing playstyle better as his passing stats are superior for a stay back cdm. His dribbling feels really nice thanks to being short and agile/balanced. This also makes him feel faster than other 80+10 pace cards. Can't get forward to save his life, sometimes gets beaten in the air and can get out muscled by similar/stronger players with bigger/better body types. If you need him to drop into a back 3, it has to be wide cb or he'll get bodied by the strikers. 7/10

Showdown Acuña: best sbc I've ever done in fifa. Used to be my box to box, now plays his natural LB position. Bosses it. Contributes assists, in the build up, provides an outlet to go forward but tracks back (high/high workrates). Fucking amazing card. 10/10

What If Mbabu: amazing center back, big, fast, agile, everything. However, he'll sometimes fall asleep in the box and give away easy goals. Fits the meta very fell and a better player probably wouldn't have conceded those goals with him like I did, but he's just not always there in the box like his cb partner. 9/10

Prime Moments Cannavaro: best cb in fifa. Feels like fifa 18 hazard on and off the ball. If you are unlucky enough to get caught in his tackle, your player isn't just gonna come off injured, Cannavaro will distribute the ball with the Catalyst chem style in a way that would make Pep Guardiola cream his pants. After turning and leaving the 3 pressing hounds eating dust. Worth every penny and one of the only few tradeables I have. 10/10

Showdown Klaiber: You already know this guy. 10/10

Prime Schmeichel: Decent, not anything crazy. Use him to link Klaiber. Have noticed his close range saves are insane. And while his distribution is godtier, he's very clunky so if you're trying to get the angle to distribute the ball, he can lose it easily to fast agile strikers pressing high. 7/10

    Honorable Mentions:

Freeze Ansaldi: the man that comes in if Klaiber or Mbabu get a red card. 5 star weak foot, good defending and decent passing/dribbling/phy. Perfect fullback.

Prime Dalglish: Pulled from a mid/prime icon sbc. Played on the wing before Kaka came in. Such a waste there, with his 5star weak foot and his finishing + dribbling combo, he's absolutely insane. I've tried him at striker and he's perfect. Unfortunately I need better passing outwide, and idk if it's his body type that makes him slightly not smooth enough for a winger. 9/10 as striker, 7/10 as winger.

POTM Ansu Fati: still comes off the bench, still gets involved. Used to be God tier, can only wonder what his FS is like. 10/10 when he came out, 6/10 now

FBD Thiago: what a disappointment. 5/10 Lazy bum at cdm/cm idc if he's 5*5. As a CAM super sub he's much better. Or if I'm chasing a game, I'll sub him on as stay back cdm to distribute faster and more accurately.

If you made it this far, gg lol. Fuck this game and fuck EA! Thanks for reading my bullshit
