    Icon Swaps 4 Pack/Picks Comparisons - Detailed

    Posted: 10 Aug 2021 10:43 AM PDT

    https://preview.redd.it/1a0tyxkyckg71.png?width=1441&format=png&auto=webp&s=04882c5bc9378e451b4ccdb5c9feb606a4806bcd

Weighting is based off player prices

    https://preview.redd.it/my9an8btckg71.png?width=775&format=png&auto=webp&s=204b1422d252757e1ff7454a148ffb9024861714

Alright folks, I've run the numbers for Icon Swaps 4. This time around, I primarily used weighted prices.

    Methodology:

The weighting assumes that the probability of packing a player or getting the player in PP is based off the market price of the player. So players with higher market prices e.g. PIM R9 have the least probability of being packed. It's tough to know the actual algorithm FIFA uses but I've used a pretty good guesstimate based off the inverse of the player's price. As an example, in my guesstimate of the 95+ PIM pack, there's a 1.4% chance of packing PIM R9 and a 29% chance of packing Yashin.

For the weighted means of the 3 player picks, I assumed you got the worst 2 players in your first 2 player picks and then calculated the weighted mean of the 3rd player pick after removing the worst 2. Did something similar for the 5 player picks. As such, this method actually gives a better weighted mean to the PPs than you'd normally expect.

    Takeaways:

    1. Using the weighted mean/token, your tokens are by far best used on the 95+ PIM Pack then the 94+ PIM Att Mid Pack.
    2. Using the weighted sharpe method, as expected, the most expensive reward (94+ PIM PP) comes first. However, sharpes can't be taken in isolation and when you add in the weighted mean, once again the 95+ PIM Pack is best.
    3. To have the best shot at getting a player over 1mm (Weighted > 1mm), the 94+ Prime/PIM PP is best closely followed by the 94+ PIM PP and the 95+ PIM Pack. This is mostly because half of the 94+ non attackers are above 1mm (7 out of 14) and they also have higher weights since they are not 10mm like PIM R9.
    4. The 92+ PIM PP is not worth it from almost all perspectives. The only reason to do it is if you want to do it and the 94+ PIM Att/Mid Pack or the 93+ PIM Att PP. At this point in the game, I'd much rather go for one of the 4 better ones though because you have a better chance at a better player with 1 of the 4 vs 2 of the lower ones.
    5. For me, the clear best is the 95+ PIM Pack. Then, it's a toss up between the 94+ Prime/PIM PP, 94+ Prime/PIM Att PP and the 94+ PIM PP which would more depend on your team and your need for the fodder packs.

Let me know if you have any questions!

PSA: Icon SBCs are great value right now because of the price of rares

    Posted: 10 Aug 2021 04:25 PM PDT

Right now on Xbox gold rares are going for around 3.5-4k. This means that the pack returns are better than ever; for example, with Gullit, you can expect 70-75 rare golds back easily which equates to about 240k conservatively (not even counting the other contents of the packs). Additionally, using Gullit as an example again, his Futbin price is misleading as many of the squads have only a few solutions and are outdated.

Just earlier today I was able to complete Gullit for 1,675,000 from scratch with absolutely no fodder. The only decent pull was Lukaku who is 75k, so I fully believe he can be completed for 1,750,000 with a little creativity in using cheapest possible players.

I think some in this community have vastly overblown how expensive these icon SBCs really are. Pele can be obtained for just over 2.5 million and Cruyff for just over 1 million with the worst possible pack pulls right now. Sure they are time-consuming, but a lot of people out there who are intimidated by the prices of these players should know that they are attainable.

    The best squad battle method

    Posted: 10 Aug 2021 12:44 AM PDT

Has to be old gen version! Next gen not working

100% afk, dont even have to score on your own. Only resume the game after half time. Found this on fifaforums, working! The computer play the game for you

    • make a high chem team, I beat high rated bad chem team with silver eresdivise. Have good subs on the bench the computer can sub on.

    • Go to main menu, start skillgame 1 and 2. Exit the skillgame when the countdown from 3 ends.

    • Go back to fut and squad battles

    • match with team without full chem on world class(not tried the high chem and higher difficulty, might be working)

    • When loaded in to the game turn off the controller and enjoy

Rare Golds are 4K right now (PS4), Gold and Premium Gold Pack Method is profitable

    Posted: 10 Aug 2021 12:00 PM PDT

You only need to hit 1 rare in a Gold Pack Preview to profit, and 2 rares in a Premium Gold Pack. I've done 3 of each and also got a TOTS and 2 85's. Might only be worthwhile tonight while prices are inflated but it's worth a shot

    History Mode in Fifa

    Posted: 10 Aug 2021 01:11 PM PDT

It would be quite entertaining if EA introduces a game mode where you can replay all the World Cups with their respective iconic moments something like 30 Years of WrestleMania in W2K14… imagine if you'd have to press a button in a cutscene to give Materazzi the headbutt!

Mia San Mia (Bayern P&P WL)

    Posted: 10 Aug 2021 07:10 PM PDT

After taking a week off and missing the PL WL (probably wouldn't have done it anyway) I'm back with another late as hell review. And since it was a Bundesliga WL, I decided to go with a side who is contractually obligated to win it every year, Bayern Munich. Not an over abundance of icons like with past teams, so it was rather simple to put it together. However, some player felt rather fraudulent (cough, Davies, cough). Still, fun to use but let's get to business.

    1. STARTING XI

Should have been a Ribery re-release

Really thought Ribery and Boateng would have got a re-release, Regardless, went with the tactics of the 12-13 Bayern treble team since I had fresh Lahm, Schweinsteiger, & Robben right there. Speaking of

Defense: Pressure on Heavy Touch W4/D8

Offense: Fast Build Up W6/Players in Box 6

    Neuer: Come for Crosses/Sweeper Keeper

    Fullbacks: Join the Attack/Overlap

Schweinsteiger: Cut Passing Lanes/Get Forward/Cover Center

Kimmich: Cut Passing Lanes/Aggressive Interceptions/Cover Center

Wingers: Stay Forward/Cut Inside/Get in Behind/Get into the Box

Muller: Stay Forward/Get into the Box/Free Roam

Lewandowski: Drift Wide/Get in Behind/Stay Forward

And unlike last time I actually have a plan B this time

    Plan B: Pep's Bayern

Again, if asked, I'll provide tactics in comments.

    2. THE WEEKEND (a.k.a. Neuer would you PLEASE STOP DOING THAT!)

    Almost like real life

Lets look at the positives, it was high scoring and I hit the 15 match threshold. But good Lord, the gameplay wasn't it this weekend.

    a. Friday (4-6) - Per usual, first five are a toss-up and I took two from that. Then dropped three straight (two in extra time) before ending on a two game streak

    b. Saturday (6-4; 10-10 overall) - Hit the ground running with three straight wins before being brought back down to earth. Won three out of the last 7.

    c. Sunday (5-3) Seems like was going to be a roller coaster day but caught fire with some emphatic wins to close it out

    3. Stats and Reviews

TOTY Manuel Neuer - 6.5/10 (That damn custom animation is so infuriating. That and the fact he kept spilling shots when they came at him. I see why people complain about him. But I'd be lying if he didn't come up clutch at times)

Prime Phillip Lahm [Captain] - 8/10; 4 A (Defensively, won numerous balls and was fast enough to stop most counters. Was a wonder at taking corners, almost always finding a teammate in the box)

TOTS David Alaba - 9.5/10; 1 G (He was everything I needed in that backline. Constantly breaking up attacks, getting in front of shots, could carry the ball forward and take free kicks)

PTG Lucas Hernandez - 8.5/10 (Slightly less effective but not that much of an indictment on his play. Could step into the LB role if called upon and could kill counters as he was often the last man back)

TOTS Alphonso Davies - 6/10 (I even think this is generous. I don't know what happened, whether it was gameplay or opponent tactics, but he was a MAJOR disappointment. Did not feel pacy at all, rarely got a tackle right and was often picked clean when playing out the back)

PIM Bastian Schweinsteiger - 7/10; 3 G/ 12 A/ 1 MOTM (Deployed as more of a box-to-box but still played the DM role well. Could end attacks and break up play on his way to finding an attacking threat)

TOTY Joshua Kimmich - 8/10; 3 G/ 6 A/ 1 MOTM (Besides the annoying way Derek Rae says his name, there was little wrong with his play. Aggr. Interceptions often meant he had to be pulled at half, but with the time he did have he didn't waste. An absolute nuisance in the midfield)

Futties Arjen Robben - 7.5/10; 6 G/ 5 A/ 1 MOTM (He was probably the card I was most excited to play with. I only wish I got more out of him. Doing his trademark cut in could only work for so long. Still wreaked enough on the wing to create some chances for himself or others)

Futties Leroy Sane - 8/10; 13 G/ 8 A ( Now imagine if this was Ribery. He performed exceedingly well on the left. Didn't feel as fast as advertise, a common issue with this team, but boy when cut in the box, it was almost academic)

TOTS Thomas Muller - 9/10; 22 G&A/ 8 MOTM (The one who kept things ticking. As evidenced by his perfectly balanced contributions, he was everywhere on the pitch making things happen. He also has a pretty good finesse shot)

TOTY Robert Lewandowski - 10/10; 39 G/ 13 A/ 16 MOTM (The talisman did not disappoint. The perfect target on corner kicks, custom penalty run-up threw keepers off and he can score from almost anywhere)

PIM Michael Ballack - 8/10; 3 G/ 5 A (Came on for any of the midfield trio where it was needed, but primarily for Muller/Schweinsteiger. A true box-to-box who provided a spark in either half of the pitch)

Mid Lotthar Matthaus - 8.5/10; 2 G/ 3 A/ 1 MOTM (Came on for Kimmich and usually picked up where he left off. Only difference was he was bigger and felt like he was causing more issues for the opponent)

Birthday Thiago - 7/10 (Came on usually to see out a game or replace a midfielder who wasn't performing to expectations. Mixed results)

TOTS Mats Hummels - 7/10 (Came on when one of the CBs was on a yellow. Sacrifice pace for brute strength. Still performed decently when coming on)

    4. Verdict and next Team

Despite some questionable performances for a few players, this team was still a high attacking side that reached the 15 win target. Playing out the back was risky because at times I was left on an island but when it worked, it WORKED. Now we know that Serie A is next, for me (if I decide to play it) there's only two options, Inter Milan and definitely-not-Juventus Piemonte Calcio. And since one club has one more UCL than the other and is…you know…actually licensed, well….

Wanted the Mourinho GIF but alas

    Until next time…

Can't remember who commented, but putting a winger in as the other CM in 41212(2) is game changing, finesse shot goal galore

Is it too much to ask for a little more control over where your players are in set pieces?

    Posted: 10 Aug 2021 01:26 AM PDT

Every now and then I stumble across the right player coming short or being at the edge of the box from a corner and fear ever changing my tactics/line up forever.

How did you get through FIFA without spending $?

    Posted: 10 Aug 2021 08:26 AM PDT

I'm gonna be honest, I dropped some cash on the opening week of FIFA. I initially had no regrets, but then I keep thinking back and how that money could have been better used. I was lucky enough to pack expensive players like Kante and Neymar, who were worth a sizable amount at the beginning and allowed me to have a good amount of coins throughout the game though so it wasn't all bad.

Regardless, I'd like to know, for the many of you who didn't spend money, how did you play FIFA and were you able to put together a solid team? Also, any tips or strategies that you followed (market stuff, doing certain sbcs, etc) would be appreciated.

What’s the most fun card youve tried and why?

    Posted: 10 Aug 2021 02:05 PM PDT

The one card I've tried that I've found really fun to use is TOTS Neymar and TOTS Messi. Neymar mostly because of the 5 star combo but also he's just a super fluid player, his passes come off really well and his dribbling and shooting feels really responsive even when the rest of my players feel really bad. Messi I just love to use for the close ball control and trying to recreate goals that he's scored in the past.
