January Mod Team Update: 'It's A New Decade, Yes It Is' Edition

    Posted: 22 Jan 2020 09:07 AM PST

Good evening/morning/whatever greeting is appropriate for your current timezone, it's your third favourite mod's third favourite mod back with another Mod Team Update.

Back in December, we put a post out which included a number of polls asking your thoughts on certain types of posts we frequently see when clearing the queue which either aren't always upvoted by the community, or have been previously removed and are still being posted and upvoted anyway.

    Your results are as follows:

    Post type Description Result
Selling Oopsies Oh no, I accidentally listed Pele for minimum BIN!! 56% remove
X vs Y NIF vs IF Van Dijk? Ben Yedder CAM or ST? 65% approve
Snipes I just bought Eusebio for 200k! 58% approve
Concept Cards Here's what Player X's Icon cards could look like... 60% approve
Investment Tips Here's which teams might get into Marquee Matchups this week 86% approve
Investment Brags Here's how I made 1 million coins buying players in anticipation of [recent SBC] 61% approve
Multiple SBC results I did 5 icon packs, here are the results 91% approve
Weekend League Analysis This is my team, stats and/or story of getting Silver 1 75% approve
Post Game Messages Oh no, I got a mean message after the game 55% approve
Card Predictions My RTTF Juan Jesus could look like this if Roma qualify! 62% approve

What that means is we will now be approving a lot more content, particularly in relation to X vs Y posts. All we ask is that you guys use that upvote button to upvote posts that genuinely contribute to the sub.

With respect to the above results, we will still remove posts that fall under our 'low effort' category - for example, poorly made or frequently posted concept cards. Card predictions posted outside active megathreads will also be removed, such as IF predictions posted on Saturdays and Sundays when IF Watch Threads are pinned.

X vs Y posts will be strictly limited to discussions about the advantages/disadvantages of using the players/formations in question in the post's title. If the post or comments includes squad links or discussions on how to fit the player into a team, it will be removed and asked to be reposted in the DST. Posts like Should I take coins or packs? or Should I sell my Player X now or wait? will continue to be removed.

Posts will be removed which do not mention player names in titles, as they will not be visible in the searchbar for future reference (examples include posts like 'This will be a great card if Spurs win both legs','Could we see this card in Future FUT Stars?' or 'Which one would you choose?'). Let's leave rubbish clickbait titles in 2019.

The /r/FIFA wiki has now been updated and can be found here.

As always, thank you for your participation, thoughts and comments and a very belated Happy New Year to you all.

BEST OF 2019 coming next week!

    Peace!

    TOTW 19 Analysis [OC]

    Posted: 22 Jan 2020 10:23 AM PST

A little while back I made a post collating some stats and analysis based on TOTW, unfortunately I've been snowed under with my new job and the holiday season, however this week I found some time to compile a bit more analysis based on TOTW 19. If you can't be bothered with graphs etc, you can scroll down for the headlines!

    Analysis

This week, Erling Haland became the 4th player to achieve a 3rd In Form and the first player to achieve IFs with two different clubs in FUT 20. (RB Salzburg & BVB)

TOTW number displayed across the bottom, and the number of players in each category is represented by the size of the block

We saw the Tallest WL this FIFA cycle, with players averaging at 185.48cm (or 184.57cm excluding goalkeepers). Due to this weekend league being so tall it's also no surprise that this TOTW features the highest average physicality of any TOTW we've seen so far (but only the 13th slowest in terms of average pace)

The blue line represents average height of TOTW players in centimetres, the orange line represents the average on-card physicality stat for TOTW players

In my last analysis, people asked if I considered power creep over the course of the season, and although there are a number of SIF/TIF cards in this TOTW, you can see from the below graph, that the Average IGS & Rating for TOTW 19 is really quite average, in fact, the average IGS for TOTW 19 is lower than TOTW 1, however as a general trend the average overall rating and IGS both appear to be on the increase.

The blue line represents mean Rating for each TOTW, and the green line represents mean total IGS

It's been a good week for the top 5 leagues, with much higher than average representation for La Liga and Bundesliga.

The red line shows the number of players from each league this week, the yellow line shows the average for that particular league

EDIT: COMPLETELY FORGOT THAT KYLE WALKER MOVED TO MAN CITY thanks to u/Petite_White_Girl_Cx for pointing this out!

Despite being 15 points and 2 games clear of Man City in the league, Man City still retain the lead when it comes to TOTW inclusions. This is likely due to Man City's high goalscoring output - having outscored the premier league leaders by 13 goals.

This graph represents the number of FUT 20 TOTW cards received by each club, cards from the current TOTW are included in Blue.

It's also worth noting that there are 8 players rated 86 or higher, which is the second highest behind TOTW11 & TOTW15 (Joint on 10).

    Headlines

    • This is the tallest TOTW of FUT20 so far, at 185.48 CM on Average
    • This is the most physical TOTW of FUT20 so far, with face physical stats of 80 on Average
    • Haland is the 4th player to receive a 3rd IF, and the first player to receive IFs with 2 different clubs in FUT20
    • With 8 players rated 86 or higher, and 7 of these from top5 leagues, it looks like a good week for red picks & SBC fodder.

Thanks for reading, and feel free to drop me a note or a comment with any feedback!

Winning 2-0 and the game starts slowing my players down. You guys ever notice things like this?

Why is Weak Foot rated 1* to 5* rather than a 1-99 stat?

    Posted: 22 Jan 2020 04:45 AM PST

I dont understand why there are effectively only 4 rankings of weak foot ability. It makes it hard to assign them in a fair way, you have guys like CR7 who are clearly more two footed than the most 4* players but not completely ambidextrous like Dembele, Sneijder etc

1-99 makes much more sense to me, and also allows them to upgrade it gradually with special cards, meaning guys like Di Maria wont always have that stumbling block come TOTS

    TOTW needs to change

    Posted: 22 Jan 2020 10:35 AM PST

My point, with this new TOTW, EFL League Two (4th division in England) reached an amount of 7 IF's. Meanwhile, Argentina's SAF (one of if not the best league in the Americas) only got 1 IF, despite having every weekend surprising, IF-worthy performances. How a low tier, almost amateur league gets more attention than other 1st division leagues around the world. My point is to give attention to some leagues that never ever gets an appearence in TOTW.Not a native speaker, sorry for my sh*t english.

New Patch - 89 Werner and Mbappe were being caught at full speed by Sergio Busquets

    Posted: 22 Jan 2020 03:19 PM PST

The new patch tonight was a shambles. I might put it down to the servers but wow that was unbearable. Mbappe felt like he was wearing lead boots. Hopefully they fix this (Hand over face)

Anyone else finds it satisfying when your big CB's shove other players to the ground?

    Posted: 22 Jan 2020 12:10 PM PST

Always funny when my opponent runs towards the goal for a 1v1 and my VVD or Konate just shove them to the ground with no foul being given.

I can only imagine the rage on the other side, because I don't like when it happens to me either, but it's one of the few advantages strong players have against agile players, so I can live with it.

    My best snipe so far

    Bundesliga/Werner users, please read this

    Posted: 22 Jan 2020 03:16 PM PST

I STRONGLY recommend Scream Marcel Sabitzer. There is something hidden in this card and I don't know what. He is so fucking good. He's originally a CAM but he has 83 defending which is absurd. He can play CAM, CM, or CDM. I truly believe he is the true definition of a "Box to Box Midfielder". If you have Timo Werner in your squad, Sabitzer will strong link to him since he plays for RB Leipzig.

In the 9 Rivals games I played with him he's got 7 goals from CDM. He has no assists because I'd rather shoot with this card. I have an Anchor on him yet he has the finishing of a striker. Most of the goals were just silly attempts from range and he left my mouth wide open when that ball went into the back of the net.

As for defending, he is a TANK. He's had some tackles where he genuinely crushes the attacker. Despite the mid 70s defending and physicality he does not get pushed off the ball.

I have to end my brief review here, otherwise this post would be way longer. Him being 45k on PS4 feels like absolute robbery for the quality player you get in return.

Marcel Sabitzer, a diamond in the rough.

I dont understand how some people are so lucky with red picks

    Posted: 22 Jan 2020 07:24 AM PST

I have played 12 out of the 18 weeks of weekend league so far in fifa 20. Including the week of the super insanely stacked totw with neymar, Allen, firmino, etc. Out of the 12 weeks I have finished gold 1 everytime. Now I know gold 1 is not great but for me it's what I can do. For gold 1 you get 8 picks, 2 sets if 4. Out of the 12 times I got to pick from 8 cards. I have only gotten a totw from the starting lineup twice. Van de beek and Grimaldo. The other 10 weeks i got the horrid bench players that were around 78-80 rated. I cant understand how some of the kids i play against that have red ronaldo, mbappe, messi, neymar etc. And they tell me they finished like gold 3 and silver 1. I dont get how they continuously get these amazing cards from such lower ranks. It's super frustrating to keep trying hard on weekend league to get 79 overall players in all 8 of the card picks.
