/r/FIFA: The Weekly Fucking Rant Thread

    Posted: 16 Mar 2021 04:00 AM PDT

As we all know, there is a lot of anger to be had in FIFA. Many controllers have lost their lives in the 90th minute. Some call it handicap. Some call it scripting. Sometimes it's just the general online bullshit that send you into a rage. This is our weekly support group -- where we come to vent and rant against all the things that shouldn't matter, except they do!

    Give in to your anger...

Let the hate flow through you...

What's pissing you off the most in this game we love to hate?

Can you actually afford the best team in FIFA [Breakdown]

    Posted: 16 Mar 2021 12:33 PM PDT

I posted but Automod removed me so imma try again with more choice wording...

TLDR: If you're the best player at FIFA that exists then Im approximating you could earn 30,500,000 coins so far this FIFA meaning you'd only need to BPM or snipe your way to 62,255,000 (or a mere 2.6 million coins per week) to be able to afford the best starting XI in the game. So jokes on you lot, EA were right- we can all play with the best cards on FIFA! ! (heavy sarcasm****************)

The 'best' team you can have is debatable, but for the sake of this I'm taking it to be THIS:

PIM VDS, TOTY Davies, PIM Maldini, TOTY VVD, PIM Caputa, PIM Gullit, PIM Mattaus, PIM Pele, PIM Zidane, PIM Maradona and PIM R9 which comes to a total of 92,766,000 coins.

The first stream of income you'd need is weekly rivals, Champs and Squad battles. If you come first in the world on Squad battles you'd get 100,000 as well as 2 Ultimates and a Mega pack.

Div 1 Rank 1 for rivals gives you 80,000 coins. Finally champs gives you 250,000 as well as 1 ultimate TOTW pack and 4 jumbo rare players (We don't care about red picks as they're untradable and none of the squad we want can be obtained as reds.).

So in total through coins you can get 430,000 coins plus ~600 coins per game but we'll say 700 since we're a FIFA god.

You'd have to play 70 games in this week (about 17 hours which is 2.5 hours a day)

Since you get 124,000 for div 2 placement + 50k for getting to div 1 thats a bonus of 174,000 coins.

This totals to an equation of

    Initial coins + No of weeks*(game coins*matches + Reward coins ) = gameplay total.

    174,000 + T ( 700*70 + 430,000 ) = Total

Were ~24 weeks in so replace T with 24 and we get 11,191,000! We're rich lads!

Second stream of income- packs from rewards:

Being the kings we are we have 2 ultimate packs, 1 ultimate TOTW pack and 4 jumbo rare player packs.

Not only are we really good at FIFA but were also really "lucky". Lets say every player we pack is 83 rated so its not discard but we aint pulling Mboopi left right and centre. Thats 126 players totalling about 400,000 per week or 9,600,000. We're rich again boys!

And we get 11 TOTW cards a week so we can generously average 30,000 sell on value for each TOTW card. This would generate another 7,920,000 worth of coins.

This totals our reward packs value at a generous estimate of 17,520,000.

Totalling up everything we've got so far you can get up to 28,711,000 from playing FIFA if you get 1st place every week

If we add another 75,000 a week for Marque match ups and EAs 'great value for money' SBCs we get to 30,511,000.

Sooooo if you're the best player at FIFA that exists Im approximating you could earn 30,500,000 coins s far this FIFA meaning you'd only need to BPM or snipe your way to 62,255,000 (or a mere 2.6 million coins per week) to be able to afford the best starting XI in the game. So jokes on you lot, EA were right we just don't manage our coins very well apparently.

Edit: Do you write essays daily and make mistakes! Use GrammarlyTM so the Reddit spelling police don't come out to play!

Edit 2: this price implies all extinct players are available for 15 mil

Opinion: The Past and Present squad screenshots are getting out of hand

    Posted: 16 Mar 2021 07:14 AM PDT

I have no problem with Past and Presents if they are providing some value (eg tactics) but if not then it is really just the same as someone posting a futbin squad to me.

I'm sure this will ruffle some people's feathers but lately this place is getting spammed with Past and Present and its getting quite annoying.

EA’s response to being asked about pros having to spend money to compete.

    Posted: 16 Mar 2021 10:46 AM PDT

Could I sign for a club in the lowest division for £0 and make EA give me a 95 rated pro card?

    Posted: 16 Mar 2021 02:13 PM PDT

Say I reached out to my local Stevenage in League 2 (ENG 4), and they agreed to "sign" me on £0 a year wage or a voluntary contract. Could I get ask EA to give me a 95 rated pro card/a bunch of icons?

Regarding EA's statement about pro's who should "master trading" in order to compete.

    Posted: 16 Mar 2021 12:37 PM PDT

Guys, sorry to tell you, but FIFA isn't an esports. It's just not. It's as much an esports title as candy crush is. Why?

    There are several points:

    1. The so called "meta" is mostly about abusing bugs or bad AI. The one who is able to abuse those mechanics in the most efficient way will be the best FIFA player. Of course, you can also have a high understanding of football tactics and mechanical skills, but let's be honest. tactics understanding will never beat a well timed bridge or pre patch stepover...
    2. You literally have to spend thousands of dollars to get a team that is good enough to compete. Nothing to add. That's pay to win mechanics that have nothing to do with esports.
    3. The game isn't even designed to be an esports title. It's about spending fifa points and buying packs. Imagine a game like dota or cs:go but the games are decided by bad AI and bug abuse.
    4. This one doesn't really count as a reason why FIFA is not an esport, but it's just NOT FUN to watch! Everytime I watch some matches from a tournament I literally fall asleep. In other games you watch the pros because you want to learn, you want to be excited about the pure skill that pros have. In FIFA, pro plays are just reeeeeally slow and reeeeally boring BUT efficient. Who wants to watch that crap?!

Maybe that's why no one really cares when there's an EA event going on. Kinda sad for fifa pros, but like this, fifa will never be an esports title in general and especially not one that people are interested in.

EA unwilling to change the thing that caused the icon black market.

    Posted: 16 Mar 2021 02:17 PM PDT

could the distribution of extremely rare player items be improved, so that more players have the chance to obtain rare items that are currently viewed by many as unobtainable?

"We are always reviewing feedback from our player community and taking steps to improve and evolve the game."

Every other question EA have quite a comprehensive (although questionable) answer. The question about pack weight just gets skirted around and avoided. This is the thing that caused the black market and they don't want to commit to changing it.

Anyone who is good at Fifa should be able to build their dream team whatever it is by playing the game normally.

    Posted: 16 Mar 2021 01:24 PM PDT

    Long Post

First of all this is in a scenario where EA actually makes the best cards available enough so that players can attain them whether by buying them off the market or obtaining them through packs.

I've seen a lot of players saying it's easy to build a good team now than years ago and I do not disagree, however I always believe there is a difference in building a good team (Not only with some random cards EA dishes out to you who may or may not be one of your favourite players) and actually being able to build the team you dream of building whether it consists of current players and top tier Icons or even a squad full of top tier Icons.

Let's say for instance someone who's a huge Brazilian fan would like to get a squad with all Brazilian moments icons and not the lower versions that can't compete with all the other overpowered cards that will come out in the future, how'd they go about getting that team without dedicating an impossible amount of time or spending an obscene amount of money? Please don't say oh everyone isn't supposed to get those cards, no, the mode is called ultimate team and you should be able to build your ultimate team whatever it is as long as you're good at the game, or good enough to meet the requirements of getting those cards assuming it's a reasonable requirement, the content is rare yes but not exclusive, and at the end of the day it's an in game content which everyone should have some kind of access to outside of spending ridiculous money. I'm not saying it's supposed to be easy but it sure isn't supposed to be almost impossible to obtain these cards, especially given the yearly span of the game and how many players play the game.

If you're paying real money for items in game it should only save you time from grinding to get the item/s, but shouldn't mean grinding for them should be impossible playing the game normally. I mean paying for a chance to get a certain card in Fifa is a grind in itself which is also absurd to think about.

I just felt like making this post after recent events surrounding EA, and after playing other games which system rewards good players really well if they choose to grind instead of paying, even by grinding you're still able to obtain all the best things from the game, and anything you have to pay for either saves you time or it's something exclusive.

It's pretty ironic, that CBs can send 50 yards precise through balls, but short through balls always land at the keeper...

    Posted: 16 Mar 2021 07:09 PM PDT

I tried it again and again, but somehow, no matter which player you have, I am using maradona, toty kdb and 92 rated bruno, those through balls which you play right before the opposition box are never arriving, even when your forward is completely free and there is a huge space in the opposition's defence, the most obvious triangle balls just go straight into the arms of the GK... But, ironically, you can send through balls from your own box/half pretty precisely and it doesnt matter, whether you use manolas or toty kdb... Its been mid march and I wonder whether EA is aware of these shambles...
