Remember when EA didn’t release winter upgrades, and just never said a single thing about it? Posted: 05 Apr 2021 06:28 PM PDT This just illustrates one of ea's biggest problems: their communication is so poor to the point where it feels like they have no plan whatsoever. They've done winter upgrades every year for how many years? And they don't even mention it once this year. The players are always held on the end of ea's string, it's a joke tbh [link] [comments] |
They don't even have to be great icon cards, just release some fucking SBCs Posted: 05 Apr 2021 11:06 AM PDT If I opened up fifa at 6 and saw they'd released PIM Inzaghi, Giggs and Cech I'd be over the fucking moon, just give us something for fucks sake. [link] [comments] |
Playing Squad Battles is so mind-numbingly boring. Wish there was a way for the AI to forfeit Posted: 05 Apr 2021 07:04 AM PDT I was 7-0 up at HT on Legendary against a 66 rated with 30 chem or so and they still played like it was 0-0. It's so stupid Put the controller down to do some stuff and they score 6 goals in 30 in-game minutes. So you can't even just let the game play out either :/ Fucking swaps man. Wouldn't even bother otherwise [link] [comments] |

As a Division 4 player, I abhor players who are amazing at the game but purposely drop divisions Posted: 05 Apr 2021 04:14 PM PDT Let me just start of with the fact that I am actually a mediocre FUT player. My loss record is more than my wins. I don't play WL because I know I'm not good enough to even reach 11 wins. I yo-yo myself between Division 6 to 4 like Norwich. I purely rely on Rank 1-2 rewards every week to sustain my club. Despite that, I try my best to win every single game. Until there's certain phases where I will play against players who I damn sure know are Div 3-1 players, but drop divisions so they can get rewards easier. Let me just have this chance to say that I understand the purpose of dropping divisions. But the fact that there are players who do this and abuse the ranking system mechanics of the game takes so much of the enjoyment of playing for players who are like me. I just went on a 10+ game losing streak on rivals because I come up against players that make me think, "How the fuck are they in this rank?" Honestly let players like us play against similar level players. [link] [comments] |
Was St. Juste even popular last year Posted: 05 Apr 2021 10:49 AM PDT I played over 2000 games and I don't remember seeing him much, if at all. I know he had a Scream card, and he was a summer heat nominee too but his card was only available in draft I even remember playing Vardy and Pukki a lot more than I ever faced St. Juste [link] [comments] |

A Comprehensive Guide of the Cyclical League SBC Method Posted: 05 Apr 2021 08:24 PM PDT cba to turn on auto caps so don't expect much. step 1: for a couple weeks, passively build up your club with golds. always take untradeable rewards but sell anything 83+ that's tradeable, and any in forms. step 2: WAIT. in order to maximize the effectiveness of this method, you must wait for two integral sbcs to come out: the bronze and silver upgrades with expiry dates. these allow for bpm to be super super useful. step 3: once these sbcs drop (usually not during a promo, spaced out by a month) you will open as many 400 coin bronze packs as possible. you will need some seed money, but at a bare minimum 250k. open 100k worth at a clip. discard non-league sbc dupes and everything that isn't players. step 4: put all non league sbc bronzes into a the timed bronze upgrade. easy way to do this is to select a league in squad builder and just submit, going down until you reach the last one. open all of these packs. step 5: repeat steps 3 and 4. after this point you should be able to start on the efl and almost complete the csl, which is the one you should be focusing on the most. some clubs can be done from basically any other non top 5 league, but those two and MLS are really good to start with basically only bronzes and silvers. step 6: work through these leagues, focusing on not spending more than 2k on a given team unless it's the last of a set. after completing the CSL once, it's time to start the real grind. step 7: put all of your non league sbc silvers into the timed silver upgrade. do the same squad builder method as outlined in step 4. open these packs, and with the golds you've built up with rewards over the recent past, you should be in a good place to start the better leagues. step 8: start combing through the top 5 leagues and other remaining leagues not mentioned in step 5, looking for teams you will spend less than 3k to finish. complete these, flushing cards back into your club. this allows for a cascade effect that will help complete other teams, eventually speeding up the process even more so that you can move through most league sbcs in a matter of days. step 9: keep going until the bronze and silver upgrades expire. this is when you should start to wean off, and tie up loose ends on leagues. after that, you wait until the upgrades come back, and the process starts all over again. although this process requires a significant coin investment, from 400k spent, i was able to garner over 1.1 million coins worth of fodder in a matter of 3 weeks, along with a cheeky prime vieri and some other good players. if you have the time and money and want to do something satisfying and fun, go for it! tips:
thanks for reading! hopefully this helps, doing this was the most fun i've had "playing" fifa in a while because gameplay is so bad. let me know if there's anything to add to this. [link] [comments] |

Disappointed we have not seen more flashbacks which give downgrades Posted: 05 Apr 2021 03:30 PM PDT So far we have had Aguero and Ronaldo and at the start of the game cycle EA said flashbacks would see players downgraded I find it odd they have only done 2 so far. We have options to have a FB neymar from his Santos days or FB Messi, you could do a flashback objective for Mbappe which would be silver, KDB from Wolfsburg. Dont get me wrong the objectives this year have been great and have loved grinding them yet I would like to see some better players picked from flashbacks why could we not get an EOA Mascherano or a flashback Michael Bradley What cards would you like to see downgrades as Flashbacks or Flashbacks in general [link] [comments] |

Looking for a change of pace to break the Meta? Try the Double False Nine. Posted: 05 Apr 2021 07:51 AM PDT After FBD Reus was released, I decided to splash the cash and grab TOTY Lewandowski to match up with my untradeable TOTY Kimmich. I also have PIM Kluivert, so my front 2 are not run in behind type of strikers. I played a 442 (2) and because of this I decided to go full the opposite way and see what happened. I set both strikers on FALSE 9 instructions. I put both wing mids on Cut Inside and Get In Behind. I don't touch anything else. Late in the game if I was seeing out a win I would change the wingbacks to Stay Back so I could manually initiate their runs forward only when I wanted it. The result was ASTOUNDING. Lewa and Kluivert pulled CB's out of positions ESPECIALLY those that were LBs and RBs playing in the CB role. They opened up defenses so Reus and my FBD Perisic could carve through them. They would then arrive back in the box just in time to smash goals home. I am a Gold 3 player (I know I suck) and it usually takes until my last game or 2 to secure gold 3. This weekend I secured Gold 2 with 5 games to play. That is about a 8-10 game swing in my favor. Also, I scored and I scored and scored. It was quite refreshing. I had frustrating games, yes, but I had a really fun weekend league and was able to play my game which is mostly passing and and moving, not skilling and counterattacks which seems to be the current meta. EDIT: I also play on FAST BUILD UP and BALANCED defending. If I needed to chase a game a switch to press after possession lost or constant press and if I need to see out a win I change to long ball. Enjoy! [link] [comments] |
Ezequiel 'Chimy' Avila is the greatest player to ever grace the Ultimate Team pitches Posted: 05 Apr 2021 03:35 PM PDT TL;DR: Are you tired of the meta? Me too. Get Chimy Avila. This year, I bought FIFA late (in January) and started Ultimate Team even later (in late February). Being a Career Mode simp, my friend had to drag me to FUT by playing co-op with me. Knowing how toxic FUT can be, we decided to lay down some ground rules. We would make it a conventional Road-to-Glory, where only First Owner players could be used in game, and any purchased players had to be put into an SBC. Naturally, that meant our main squad would be decided by our pack luck and SBC acumen. Additionally, I wanted to push away from building a Premier League team. I also pushed for a twist: the anti-meta rule. We couldn't use any conventionally meta players like Mendy, Varane, Pope, Kante, etc., i.e players whose in game contributions massively outweigh their rating and stats. No 5-3-2, drop back, etc. Any meta players we used had to be players that were effectively 'diamonds in the roughs'. Given how late I started, I knew that every team we faced would be chockful with metas or plastered with icons and outrageous promo cards, or some combination of the two. After the first few days of playing squad battles,in order to build up some semblance of a reasonable squad, we noticed our team was shifting to a weird hybrid of La Liga and Bundesliga players. One fateful night, unbeknownst to me at the time, I opened up a rewards pack that featured a flurry of seemingly mediocre 78-80 rated players. In that pack, I found Ezequiel 'Chimy' Avila. Chimy slotted into our squad right up top, in front of a CF Reinier I was attempting to finish the objectives for. Given the nature of my players, we had decided on a 4-4-1-1 with the CF-ST duo, so Avila also linked with the 82 Cucurella that we had grinded squad battle wins for. I didn't have much thoughts for Chimy either way, other than being slightly more intrigued because of our similar nationalities. If anything, he was just a La Liga striker who got me chemistry while we waited on a "real" La Liga striker. The squad battles continued, and this is where I began to get an inkling of Chimy's real talent. Of course, it's often reactionary to put any weight into a player's performance against the AI, especially given that we were just grinding for some objectives. All we needed was goals, the occasional win, and some clean sheets. However, Chimy's addition to the team made an instant impact--at least against the AI--and he bagged himself a handful of neat close range finishes. "How nice", I thought to myself, "a good sub for when we upgrade the team". Fast forward a few days, and I had picked up, through objectives and pack rewards, an ok, albeit relatively slow, La Liga and Bundesliga team. Having had the fortune of packing FUTBirthday Sambia, I had no choice but to start him next to special Fofana (only 78, mind you, I'm not a heathen) and then move him into the midfield for one of Canales or Torreira. Other than that, I also was forced to sub in LB Fortunas, and push Mukiele to RB. As you can tell, it was a very not great team. Chimy started up top in front of Reinier, Canales and Sambia would make up the midfield, Cucurella (now 86) was the left midfielder, Kubo (75) was the right midfielder, and Mandanda was in goal. It was a unique team, so to speak. I expected to get ran through in the Division Rivals ranking matches. I was wrong, sort of. My first game was against your typical French PL meta team, mixed in with some high rated promos, and the toxicity that makes you question your sanity for even putting up with FUT. I was down by two in the first 10 minutes. My hand was forced--my actions were limited to short passes, lots of little lay offs, and absolutely no through passes. It was very purist. I had a good run of plays that were ended by Nick Pope (IF, 84), and heading into half time I was only down 3-0. A bit better than the first 10 minutes suggested. Given my lack of pace, I pushed the wide midfielders into the middle and played with 4 central midfielders. The second half comes, and suddenly Chimy starts to find lots of spaces and consequentially starts to receive the ball tons more. Goal. Right-footed. Goal. Left-footed. I lost that game 6-2. But Chimy had left me with a glimmer of hope. Maybe he was as good against other players as he was against the AI. The next game was almost a carbon copy of the first, Chimy skipping past a few players and providing a nice assist, as well as muscling and out jumping some defenders to put a header in off the post. I almost lost my shit. I finished the next two games with a tie, and managed a win against the last team. I ranked into division 5, where my friend and I embarked on our first FUT online play....and got battered by about 6 different teams, all with some varying degree of meta and promo combination. Albeit a bit distraught, it was what we expected. As we got used to how the team 'handled', we began to notice that Chimy was scoring in pretty much every game. Situations where we believed he would lose possession, he managed to wriggle an extremely powerful shot off through a small angle. Chimy's increasing goal count mirrored our increasing optimism and shock. We were playing some good teams! We played again the next day, and the day after that, managing a few ties. On the third day, we won 5 games in a row. Chimy's litmus test, so to speak, and he passed with flying colors. Throw your Mendys, your Varanes, your Nick Popes, your Kantes, your Icons... Chimy took all comers. As we began to climb up the ladder again, we naturally began to get some better players in packs and SBCs. Having packed Guerreiro and grinded for Otavio in Managerial Masterpiece, we had a left side befit for a Bundesliga striker... and in came FUT Birthday Hwang and normal Haaland. Surely this was the end of Chimy's reign? You would think that an 84 and 85 (with 95 pace!) striker duo would give us plenty of options up top, and normally, you would be right. But in came Haaland and Hwang, and out went the enjoyment. It just didn't click. Goals were hard to come by. So Chimy went back in, after a few games of a failed experiment. Scored about a billion goals. Since then, it has been smooth sailing. It is disrespectful to reduce Chimy's contributions to words and statistics. But I'm going to try to anyways. Mr. Dependable. He can do it all. He is 79 rated, only has 82 pace, and is the greatest player to ever grace my FUT squad. He'll play just as well as a lone striker as he will in a duo, can drop back to play as a false 9 and even as an attacking midfielder. The key? His 83 physical stat, as well as his short height. That makes him an untouchable, unstoppable, untackle-able monster. He's agile, but not weak. He's strong, but not clumsy. He's small, but not slow. He can finish his dinner, and yours too. He's ambidextrous, has an insanely accurate shot, and jumps like a bat out of hell. A myriad of very good conventional forwards have begun to enter my squad, and each is completely outperformed by Chimy. Shortly, they go back to my club, awaiting their time to be used in an SBC. Chimy allows my friend and I to forego the conventional, the meta, the outright pace. Mind you, we are no slouches at the game. We've played together for a few years at this point, so the real life chemistry is there. My friend is comfortably the better player, and in my opinion could reach the pro level if he wanted. I'm good at a few things, so I'm very much the second man in the dynamic. But with Chimy, we can play as an almost entirely rare gold team and become the seemingly lower level squad that can take meta and Icon-stacked teams completely by surprise. Even as the level of our opponents increases, Chimy responds. Ezequiel 'Chimy' Avila. The man, the myth, the legend. The captain of "ChimyChurri" FC. [link] [comments] |
Ranking the top 10 CBs I've used so far. Posted: 05 Apr 2021 08:20 PM PDT I've always enjoyed playing with top tier CBs. Unlike the general consensus, I truly believe that having a gamechanging CB actually does make a massive difference to your gameplay and consequently, your results. Thought it'd be fun to share the top 10 CBs I've used so far. I'm talking pure CBs so you won't find full backs here. Also, I'll only list the highest version of a card if I've used multiple versions of that player before. Let's start. 10 - PIM Blanc He's truly unique in the sense that he's so tall, yet he has decent agility and balance. Makes a lot of interceptions and excellent in 1v1 defending but can be burnt for pace because his body type makes him feel clunkier and slower than the stats suggest. 9 - PIM Vidic An extremely aggressive defender and it's a joke how he just bodies attackers, CR7 included, off the ball like they're kids. Super strong tackles and has the pace to keep up with most attackers. Issue with him is he gives away a lot of fouls and penalties because he feels really clumsy, especially when inside the box. 8 - PIM Puyol Probably the most value for coins card in this list. He is not as slow and clunky as his stats suggest due to his lack of height. His defensive positioning and pure defensive capabilities are one of the best in the game. You need to play him in a specific way to get the most out of him - never drag him up the pitch, keep your depth 5 or lower and you can forget about any Press or Pressure defensive styles. 7 - TOTY Ramos He's Puyol, but faster and way more agile. Like Puyol, he doesn't just stick a foot into a tackle, he literally barges in and knocks attackers off the ball. He is a true ball playing defender who can carry the ball further up the pitch to start an attack. Fantastic scorer from corners too. Only thing I didn't like about him is his work rates. Often times I had to manually drag him back while I was getting my ass countered because he was sitting alongside my CMs. 6 - PIM Ferdinand The most disappointing entry on this list. Don't get me wrong, he's a top tier CB, but taking his market value into consideration (he's the most expensive on this list), I think he's not really worth it. You can really feel the difference his unique body type makes, he constantly wraps his long long legs around attackers and he's really fast. However, I find that he doesn't quite keep hold of the ball after winning it back, it constantly goes back to the attacker; not sure if it's due to how low-ish strength and aggression, or his body type. 5 - RTTF Varane (90 ovr) What can I say about him? He's the king of AI blocks and this version is probably 3 times better at it than his gold card. Personally, I prefer to do more manual defending so I was under-utilising him, plus I couldn't get on with how clunky he is and the average passing ability. But I can appreciate how great he is if he fits your play style. 4 - Mid Maldini The only high end CB whom I've not had the chance to try the Prime or PIM card, and it's not hard to see why. He truly feels like the Rolls Royce of CBs, super smooth, the cleanest tackles in the game and flawless positioning. And guess what? He has the pace to go with it too. Only problem with him is the low strength and aggression, but because of how good he is in the other areas, it's well compensated. 3 - PIM Desailly If Maldini is the Rolls Royce of CBs, then PIM Desailly is the monster truck. This guy is simply a flat track bully who's not only fast, but has insane physicals to intimidate attackers off the ball. Surprisingly, he doesn't feel as clunky as his stats show, in fact, he's really smooth for a CB who stands over 6 feet. Issue with him is the passing and his high aggression which causes a lot of fouls. Also, do note that his PIM has a High and Average body type compared to his other cards' High and Average+. I don't know what it means exactly but I thought his Prime felt a little smoother. 2 - TOTY Van Dijk Combine all the positives of the 8 other CB cards you've just read into one player, and you will get this wall of a man. He has it all, really. Pace, passing, defending, physicals... and his ball control is great too. With this guy, your opponents will consciously make an effort to not even get anywhere within a 10-yard radius from him. And when they do, there's no way he will let them pass 9 out of 10 times. He scores from corners for fun, and his passing range is the best I've used so far, in any card. Immense player and worth every coin spent. 1 - PIM Cannavaro Absolutely the most unique CB you can ever get in this game and to me, the best CB, hands down. He's way faster than his stats suggest due to his small frame, and coupled with his high agility and balance, he feels like Flashback Ribery on and off the ball. His recovery speed is unmatched, and like Maldini, he has super clean tackles and his positioning is just perfect. Despite being only 5'9", he wins most headers due to his crazy jumping and heading stats. The massive improvement this card has over his Prime card is that with this card, you should use a Catalyst chem style on him because his defensive stats are almost maxed out anyway, and it immediately fixes his weakest area - which is his passing. For the price, he's coin for coin the best ever in this game. Currently, I have PIM Cannavaro and TOTY Van Dijk as my CB pairing and honestly, they complement each other so perfectly, with their strengths covering for the other's weaknesses. And I think that is an important point to consider when building a backline - your CBs need to complement each other. I'd never use TOTY Van Dijk with PIM Desailly, same goes for PIM Cannavaro and TOTY Ramos, simply because they share similar strengths and weaknesses. I'm sure this will likely be my end game CBs unless I pack PIM Maldini (lol). That's all I have today. I might do another top 10 for other positions if you guys are keen. Happy to answer questions! Is every team you face better than yours? Posted: 05 Apr 2021 05:27 PM PDT Why is it that no matter how good your team is, you will play the vast majority of your matches against guys with better players, often much better players, than the ones you have in your squad? Who are all these people with prime Gullit and TOTY Mbappe?? I've never even packed a gold Kanté but somehow every other guy I play against in rivals or champs has players I would only ever get to use in a draft. I have literally never had a good red pick but the amount of red Ronaldos I come against in champs is mad. Is this just me or is this anyone else's Fifa experience? [link] [comments] |

The outside the box objective for icon swaps is the absolute biggest pisstake I've ever seen by EA Posted: 05 Apr 2021 08:24 AM PDT This is by far the worst time I've ever had on Fifa, ever. Been going at this for almost 2 hours and I'm only on 1/6 but everyone Ive played against who scored first has not only paused for me repeatedly, but they've also played in the absolute most toxic way humanly possible just to make me leave I'm done, I honestly give up. This is no longer a game where you try to have fun, it's the battle of who can be the more toxic player. You won ea [link] [comments] |
