I have been unable to submit league SBCs for 3 days now yet some players are still doing them normallly which is an unfair advantage. EA should make it so that red picks are whatever promo is live at the moment in game. Would definetly increase involvement in Weekend League. The game is a death carousel that keeps revolving and sucks you back in every year. FUT is literally a life sucking game, This month i realized all of the accomplishments i wasted, and the so-called accomplishments from FIFA I achieved were a collossal waste of time. I do think that this year's Future Stars team could have had more TOTS cards if the TOTS teams were bigger than 15 cards. But FIFA 19 had the smallest Future Stars Team yet still managed to produce quite a few of this year's "Current Stars" despite the small number of TOTS cards this year. I found FIFA 20's results to be the most surprising considering that they had the largest Future Stars squad and the largest TOTS(SF) squad. [link] [comments] |
| Posted: 29 May 2021 05:27 AM PDT Hi all, It's been since the beginning of FIFA that I posted my 4222, 41212(2) guides, and 4321. They received literally thousands of upvotes, and it helped a lot of people have fun in the game, as I try to shy away from ratty tactics and try to keep the game as fun and enjoyable as one can hope. I stepped away from the game for a bit, as I became a little disillusioned with people just smashing through balls constantly, and if that didn't work, just bridging past your static AI. Yeah, I didn't enjoy it much, (despite the fact I was still finishing E1). It just wasn't fun at all. I packed R9 from my rewards, used him a handful of times, realised the game was shit, and decided to take a break as I was suffering from some illness, and there was better things in life to spend my time on than being frustrated with FIFA. I recently returned with a new team, so decided to give FIFA another try. I sold my team way back when for a fortune, so I had a ton of coins sitting there to build a TOTS team; so figured fuck it? Why not? Anyway, my life story and little rant isn't what this is about. I presume you clicked this link as you're keen on trying out a formation, that, well, NOBODY else plays (aside from hipsters like me). You may ask "Why not just play 41212 wide?" Well, the reason is, that even though we push our CM forward (as you'll see later), we still need him to help out on defense. 4132 does a hell of a lot better job at doing that, then 41212 wide. Trust me, tried both, and it's not even close. When defending we basically revert to a somewhat 442 set up, and when attacking we switch to a 4114. PLAY STYLE This is an aggressive formation. It isn't really defensive much, (at all), so you're going to need to defend well. If you're keen on sitting back soaking pressure then smashing through balls, and winning 1-0, this probably isn't for you. Your games will be high scoring. . . but they will be fun; with the added caveat that players worse than you in skill level, will get absolutely decimated as they simply won't be able to handle the attacking onslaught. The formation does very well against all the formations you're likely to encounter, which is why I went this route. CUSTOM TACTICS Defense Defensive Style: Press After Possession Loss Width: 5 Depth: 7 We utilise Press after Possession loss as our goal, as always, is to win the ball back immediately in our own half after our attack breaks down. We also play a high depth like I've always done in every formation I've published. We utilise the auto offside trap by playing 7 depth, and by playing high, it also ensures that our team is more compact with less space in the middle for our opponents to exploit. Offense Offensive Style: Long Ball Width: 1 Players in Box: 4 Corners: Personal Preference Free Kicks: Personal Preference We play super narrow in this formation, as we want our LM and RM to act as pseudo-CM's by being as narrow as possible. It also ensures that when we're attacking, they are super involved and find themselves taking nice pockets up just outside the corner of the box; or even right inside of it, depending on where the ball is. With my Custom Tactics and Instructions, (more on those later), this is the most I've had my LM and RM involved in my attacks. We use Long Ball, as I like my team to aggressively push forward when I win the ball back and make runs in behind - but not to the extent of the chaos and madness that fast build up brings. PLAYER INSTRUCTIONS If nothing is mentioned, it is because the instruction is left as default LB/RB -- Stay Back While Attacking, Overlap. We do not need our full backs to assist us in our build up. I keep them back in this formation, as our LM and RM provide us with the necessary width to spread out my opponents AI defenders and free up the middle of the pitch. I use Overlap so that when I am chasing the game, I can activate D-Pad tactics for fullbacks to join the attack, and they will hug the side-lines pushing my LM and RM very central. But I only use this when I am chasing the game and I'm desperate; or if my opponent is terrible and I am trying to get a quick cricket score to encourage a rage quit. CDM -- Stay Back While Attacking, Cover Center This guy basically just screens the back 4. Not much to add here. He doesn't get involved much in the offense, and just provides an outlet when breaking out from defense - or an option to pass back to when you are forced to recycle possession and reset your opponents defensive structure by passing backwards. CM -- Get Forward, Get into the Box for Cross, Cover Center This CM is going to make late runs into the box and act as a CAM while you're in attack. Think Lampard, Gerrard, Scholes. That kind of role. They are CM's, but get a ton of goals with this set up. LM/RM -- Stay Forward, Cut inside, Get in Behind, Get into the Box for Crosses These guys are going to get you a lot of goals, and get involved heavily in your attacks. They act like a 3rd and 4th striker, depending on where the ball is. We leave them on Stay Forward for when our opponent is fannying around with possession in our half, (read: almost always), we can punish them by switching play to our wings with counter attacks before their turtle structure has time to get set. Seems a bit sweaty, I know, but no more sweaty than what your opponent is doing, I guarantee. These instructions ensure they aren't isolated on the wings not doing much of much. Your opponent will likely be very confused with their positioning as it's not what they expect to see. STRIKERS -- Get in Behind, Stay Forward, Stay Central We don't need/want these guys coming back. No point. Just leave them up top as outlets. PERSONNEL DEFENDERS Best you can afford, link up with. CDM Pure CDM - Kante, De Jong, Carvalho, etc. We prefer M/H, but H/H works fine, as they are set to stay back anyway. Try to shy away from Med defensive, as they are going to be very busy as they are a lone CDM, so we need them to be buzzing around as much as possible. CM Bruno Fernandes, KDB, Valverde, Llorente, Muller, Nainggolan etc. Work rates are kinda important here. They are going to be required to defend and attack in equal measure. H/H is almost mandatory. They need to have decent attacking stats, as well as defensive stats. STA is of paramount importance. You may need to sub this guy if the game goes to ET, as he will be doing ALOT of milage. LM/RM Any good winger works here. Must have a decent WF and 5 star skills is a huge bonus, but not absolutely necessary. They will find themselves in shooting positions very often, so you're going to want to have good finishing here. Invert them, if you like to finesse, or leave them as be if you like to cross. Whatever suits your playstyle. ST Whatever you've got. I always try to run one big man, with one small, but honestly, just do whatever here. Best you've got/can afford. CONCLUSION I've been using this formation for about a month now, and posted E1 every week aside from the first week back when I was rusty. I find it doesn't have any real weak match ups, and does very handily against the 4312, which I see a lot of. What I like best about this formation, is that with your LM and RM stationed very high, it pulls your opponents LB and RB high up the pitch to mark them, creating space through the middle for you to exploit. It also does very well against the press, as you can just knock the ball out to your LM and RM as outlets before your opponents defensive structure is set. Do note, though, that you're going to need to defend well if you want to truly crush with this set up. Even still, expect high scoring games. But that's alright, because. . . IT'S FUN. We play this game for fun, and we'd do well to remember that. Losing isn't the end of the world, and resorting to ratty tactics to try to sneak 1-0 is the antithesis of fun. Don't be that guy. Have fun. We've got all these super cheap players/options available to use at the moment. Enjoy it. I'll also add, that this formation/set up may not be for everyone. It works for me, and works well, but it may not work for you. Give it a go, see how it goes. You may love it like I do, but you may also hate it. And that's fine. Nothing lost. [link] [comments] |

| TOTS has been so weird this year Posted: 29 May 2021 11:19 AM PDT They started off very with Championship and Community to the point where I doubt anyone has any of those players in their starting 11. Then they went on to Prem which basically was the work week of TOTS in the history of TOTS. Then they did a 180 and gave us one of the best weeks where I guarantee nearly all of us have at least 1 la Liga tots player in our squads, also Isak was an incredibly fun objective card (might be the best one released all year) Bundesliga was similar to La Liga but a bit worse on upgrade packs. Then Serie A was even worse with a very bad 15 players in the tots selection (barring 3/4 players) Now ligue 1, despite having a great 15, seems to be whimpering along similar to how Serie A was. Basically EA have this issue with nearly every promo, they start off ok but end in a whimper. TOTS is meant to be the final promo for a majority of the playerbase but I think EA, in an attempt to keep people playing longer, have actually done the opposite and turned more people away, which is weird as the last few iterations had competition in the form of Cod, Fortnite and other battle royales, EA this year could have just kept releasing SBC's and cards like last year and had more player retention.
