Let's be honest FUT champions rewards are bad, FUT champions upgrades are even worse.

At least let us use them as totw fodder in every sbc. This why our grind will be rewarded even if we get a 84/83/82 pick of a player that nobody cares about.

Hello Ladies and Gentlemen

I like many of you here have grown stale of using the same team over and over again in weekend league, and with Mid Vieira still 2.5m out of my price range I thought I had better use someone already in my club, and thats when I came across 49 rated CM Justin Haak from NYCFC. I looked a his card, not a face stat over 52, just how badly could this go?

I promptly placed him into my starting 11 in place of Kante (if you didnt think i was a psycho before you sure did now) and noticed that he was on 8 chem, but that didnt matter to the future GOAT. I was determined to make him play every minute of weekend league to see how much effect one player could have on a side.

Dislaimer before we get into the games - I am a very average fifa player who has gone 14-10 last 3 weekend leagues having started 0-3 and 7-0 previous two weekends

We got into game 1 and Haak was absolutely dreadful, he was by far the worst player ive used on any FIFA ever (played since 04) and there was no close second. Every pass scuffed, wasnt anywhere near where he was supposed to be on defence and im pretty sure he was running with bricks for boots. I was beaten 6-3 and I was braced for a long weekend.

After the game Haak "ee lacked a little confidance" to quote Wenger. I decided to show him i had faith in him by handing him the armband for the rest of the weekend. After that he was a completely different player, bagging a goal and an assist in his third game. Once id worked out his drawbacks and to make sure to play it simple with him he was actually not that bad. I got to my standard 14 wins with a record of 14-9 and then two more quick rage 1-0 quits saturday night got me to 16-9 (thanks red picks Zahavi, 16 wins was worth it /s) But Haak deserved better, he deserved a full weekend league and Captain America got them. I ended up losing the last game to get gold 1 and finished with a 19-11 record. Actually my best for this weekend league and it was captained by an off-chem 49 rated CM.

Yes it obviously helps having TOTY KDB but cut me some slack

Was he in the right place defensively to intercept passes? No not often.

Did he win many tackles? No.

Did he turn like a JCB? Yes.

But he could play a pass and I didnt notice any goals that came dircetly from his mistakes. He ended the weekend with 2 goals (with this being the second https://streamable.com/hv9hfx ) 2 assists and 2 yellow cards. Showing me that he will fight for the shirt, and thats all that matters. He did end up playing every minute of the weekend league, a testament to his durability

Id like to say thankyou to Justin Haak for helping me enjoy fifa again this year and it was quite fun to play with a different card this year. He'll most likely stay in the side for next weekend league as he just captained my team to the best finish this year. Id also like to take the time to apologise to the user whos team was ITALIA CLASSIC XI, after i scored with Haak (Link above) i did the group dance, i lost my head after a goal from Haak and although you may have given me the full celebration earlier, you were already 4-2 down and didnt deserve the South Africa 2010 dance.

TL;DR: 8 chem Haak > Kante

League Veterans : Players having 300+ appearances in their respective leagues (tryng to exclude players already having cards like Milner Jesus Navas, and Chiellini)

Players must still play in league has the most appearances, meaning Hamsik and Ashley Young not eligible.

This would not be a great "pack selling" promos but I think it would be a nice change to give those players a playable card. or maybe tweak it to include more players

I mean if they can give Mbabu a yearly juiced out card , why not give out to players who had a respectable or even great career.

Players that would fit the promo :

Ligue 1 : Hilton, Mandanda, Payet
LaLiga : Sergio Busquets, Joaquin , Raul Garcia, Piqué, Rakitic, Marcelo
Serie A : Quagliarella, Buffon, Pandev, Candreva, Bonucci, Nainggollan (already has a RB)
Bundesliga : Hummels, Piszczek, Castro
PL : Milner* Noble, Cahill
Eredivisie : Toornstra
Liga Nos : Tarantini, Pizzi

They'd obviously need to be juiced beyon their real life stats like most promos but it could be a decent promo, for players like Joaquin and Noble who never seem to get any cards despite being "iconic" players for the PL and La Liga.

Heres a guide for people who don't know what formation to play in, based on your play-style, from a high D1 player

This week i've been pretty bored so i've been experimenting with different formations and looking at the formations that different pros have been using to see what feels the best offensively, defensively and both. (2400 skill rating)

Disclaimer: I have a really good team and that definitely contributes to my success with these formations.

First Formation: for people who don't mind playing a high tempo, high press game. These tactics require you to be paying attention the entire game and you have to stay focused. This is the formation I used to go 17-1 in WL. This is for people who are amazing defenders, if you aren't great at defense i'll talk about tactics you can change.

4312 is the formation and I used ex-pro Romanian icon Harry Heskeths tactics video as a foundation.

Defensive: 5 width and 7 depth with press after possession loss.

Offense: Long ball, balanced, 5 depth, 6 players for get into box and 2 for corners and free-kicks.

Left and Right Striker: Stay central and stay forward. I recommend fast agile players ( The Neymars the Mbappes the Ronaldos)

CAM: just like Harry said, this player needs to stay forward or else this formation defends in a weird way. Also get into box for crosses. (again, someone quick and agile, or someone whos good at passing). Ideally High/Med or Low

LCM and RCM: Both have to be on get into the box and cover wing. One of them has to be balanced and one of them has to be on get forward. Both can be b2b players or one can be b2b and one can be an attacker. Ideally both should have high high, especially the one you have on get forward. I had butra but he has medium att rates and he didnt make many runs, but high att rates lothar made great runs into the box.

CDM: This player can be on stay back or on drop between cbs, for me its on drop between cbs as I like this positioning better. Also put him on cover center. Ideally Med/High and amazing at defending. I had h/h wijnaldum and m/h prime ballack here and they both did fine, but i liked ballack more.

LB and RB: Keep them on balanced attack and also on overlap. Ideally both are High/Medium and have good shooting stats as these guys will play as wingers on attack.

GK: Mine is on sweeper keeper and comes for crosses, but personal preference.

This formation defends kinda like a 4-4-2, but you mainly have your CBs and CDM to defend counters and your LB and RB will eventually drop back. It attacks as a 3-1-6 basically, your CBs and CDM defending, your less attacking CM in the middle and your wing backs, strikers, cam and attacking cm in the box. So why not use the 3-5-2 or 5-3-2? I tried those, but the CMs on the 3-5-2 arent attacking enough for me and the full backs take too long to come back to defense, i also used the 5-3-2 but i just hated it and I dont see a point for the middle cb, its much more effective if you have a CDM infront of your cbs instead of a middle cb.

So, those were the tactics for people that: Are really good at defence, enjoy playing a high tempo style, and are good at attack.

What If i'm a really bad defender but a really good attacker?

If you're a bad defender, this formation can still work for you, but i would change around some things. Firstly your LB and RB should be on stay back while attacking for that extra support. You can turn press after possession loss off and also turn the depth down to 5 from 7. This will put you in a better position to defend. The negatives of this are that you lose your LB and RB in attack but everyone else is fine. If you want more defensive coverage, change one of your CMS to stay back while attacking and put your CDM to drop between defenders. If none of this works, change to the 41212(2). This formations cms stay more defensive for some reason so this would work for you better.

What if i'm amazing at defence but struggle to score?

firstly, this is an AMAZING problem to have, defending is so important. So i wouldn't change many things, but if you try out this formation and are still struggling to score, put a striker or good attacking player in the place of the attacking CM. This player would need high workrates though, and offers you another elite attacker in the box. Obviously this means you have 1 attacking cm 1 b2b and 1 defensive, but if you're a good defending player this will not hurt you in defense.

What if I dont wanna play a high tempo game, and just wanna relax?

this formation is absolutely not for you. If you're not playing careful you could easily be down 2 or 3 goals. If you want a "safe formation" where you can casually play around and win games 2-1 or 3-2 or 4-2 this is not for you. I'd recommend 4-4-2 or 4231 with two cdms, those formations are calmer games, but less offensive support and less goals and probably more boring games and rage. However, use whatever formation makes you happy.

what if i just suck at this game and every loss send me into a fit of rage?

firstly, normalize losing. It's okay if you lose games, everyone loses games, just jog on after a loss. If you suck at this game, just keep playing. I didnt get better at this game from watching pros or watching videos or any of that stuff. I just played and played and got better. That's not to say that you can just play and play and go from silver to elite. I think some people have better fifa IQ than others and are just better with their fingers, so sometimes its okay to sit back and realize, maybe i cant just turn myself into an amazing fifa player. Thinking you can do better and improve but not seeing results, can cause even more rage. You can def get better by playing, but everyone has a ceiling in my opinion, so realize when you hit yours.

You play games to get fodders, not red Ronaldos. Because you RARELY pack anything worth more than fodder price from rewards. Then you collect all the fodders and gamble when there is a party bag/Icon SBC. No more great+permanent specific-Icon SBC like in FIFA 19, you just have to gamble it. If you fail, you just continue to live in this cycle. That's basically FIFA 21.
